Margaret M. “Marge” (Mahoney) Stack – of Woburn, died after a brief battle with cancer, July 29th at the age of seventy-eight. She was the beloved wife of nearly 60 years to Joseph T. Stack.

Born and raised in Somerville, Marge was a daughter of the late Charles and Ann (Dacey) Mahoney. She was a graduate of Somerville High School.   She married Joe in 1960 and they bought their house in Woburn and raised their 3 children.  The home was filled with so much love and there were many happy memories made there over the years.

In early years, Marge worked for Lechmere as a credit supervisor. He greatest job and accomplishment though was raising her family and her grandchildren. Receiving the title of “Nan” was one of her favorite things and her family knew it.    Marge was a huge part of her children’s lives and her grandchildren meant everything to her.  There was nobody who baked better and her birthday cakes were loved and cherished.   Marge’s brownies were famous amongst family and friends and there was never a time you went to her house where she didn’t bake for you.   Weekly Family Night at Lisa’s was a favorite and she always left with the placemats as there wasn’t a stain she couldn’t get out….

Marge loved traveling, especially on special trips with her daughter Lisa and dining at new and great restaurants.  She loved going to Maudslay park with her son Joey along with the Butterfly place.    Joe and Marge loved Kennebunkport, North Conway, The Cape and many, many other New England treasures.    The Family vacations with her husband, Joey Lisa and Rob along with her grandchildren Dylan and Brian were the things she lived for.  There were so many traditions that Marge created for her family and will be carried on…

If you ever wondered what season or time of year it was, all you needed to do was drive by Marge’s house. She always decorated her front door and had flowers in seasons favorites that would make anyone smile.   Marge was one of the most caring, kindest, loyal and strongest woman you could meet.   She was the rock of the family and her friends meant so much to her and she had many.  There wasn’t a person who met her who didn’t love her or felt like they knew her forever.   She loved her sister Denise and Sundays at her house and treasured her friend of 45 years, Joanne.   She was our go to and there will never be another Marge, Mama or Nan….  We were the luckiest family alive to have her.. even if not for long enough.

She will be deeply missed and never forgotten by the ones who loved her most.

Along with her husband Joseph, Marge is survived and will be deeply missed by her children Lisa Stack-Lee, her husband Rob of Billerica, Joseph Stack Jr. of Merrimack, NH and the late Brian Stack. Cherished “Nan” of Brian and Dylan Lee. Loving sister of Denise Schwamb, her late husband Eugene “Ted” of Chelmsford and Denis Mahoney. Dear niece of Meg O’Leary of West Wood. Also survived by several loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

  2. Stack Family,
My deepest condolences to you all. I had the pleasure of working with your Mom at Lechmere many years ago and Marge was the best manager and friend a person could ask for. She put up with a lot of stuff from us 20 year olds back in the day and we all loved her. I ran into her many years later and she actually remembered me.
We had a great reunion in the middle of a store. I will miss her dearly

I will fondly remember my wonderful shopping trips and lunch dates with Margaret and Denise. We had so much fun together. An early morning phone call from Margaret would always make my day.
