Karen A. (Testa) Byrne – of Woburn, peacefully, June 8th at the age of seventy-six. She was the devoted wife of 55 years to Thomas “Tom” Byrne.

Born in Brookline and raised in Newton, Karen was a daughter of the late Pasquale and Gertrude (Carey) Testa. She was a graduate of Newton High School.

Karen devoted her life to her family. She took great pride in her children and grandchildren, and held weekly family dinners for many years. During summer months, Karen and Tom would have everyone up to the family summer home in Deering, NH where she enjoyed going out on the boat, sun tanning, taking scenic drives, planning BBQ’s and cooking with her family.

Nana, as she was affectionately called by her grandchildren, made Christmas a season like no other, she would decorate every area of her home, and cook a large, traditional Christmas dinner. She made this a most joyous time for the whole family, but mostly for her youngest son, Cory, who passed away less than a year ago.

Cherished mother of Thomas Byrne, his wife Patty of NH, Sherry Poole of Woburn, Ryan Byrne, his wife Tiffany of Woburn and the late Cory Byrne, his husband Scott Sylvia. Dear sister of Francis of NC. Adored “Nana” of Lindsay, Jessica, Julia, Jillian, Layla, Molly and Colton.

Karen’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Windrose in Woburn as well as Ascend Hospice, for all of the comfort, care and love they have shown on to Karen during this hard time.

Remembrance’s may be made in Karen’s honor to Alzheimers Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.  Arrangements are pending and under the direction of the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home.
