Barbara L. (Burnes) Boyle

Barbara L. Boyle – of Woburn, peacefully, May 30th after a lengthy illness, at the age of eighty-seven. Beloved wife of 62 years to the late Gerard “Spike” Boyle. Cherished mother of Gerard Boyle Jr., his wife Julie of Rockport, Carolyn Hollis, her husband Michael of Gloucester, and Brian Boyle, his wife Marilyn of Reading. Cherished grandmother of 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Dear sister of David Burnes, his wife Barbara of Woburn and Richard Burnes, his wife Janice of Bedford. Also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews. At this time and due to current state regulations, calling hours are private. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Charles Church on Friday, June 5th at 11:30 a.m. Presently, the church is allowing no more than 100 people to attend, and masks must be worn. Burial to follow in Woodbrook Cemetery.  Remembrances may be made in Barbara’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association 309 Waverley Oaks Rd, Waltham, MA 02452.

Barbara L. (Burnes) Boyle – of Woburn, died peacefully, May 30th after a lengthy illness, at the age of eighty-seven. She was the beloved wife of the late Gerard “Spike” Boyle.

Born and raised in Woburn, Barbara was the daughter of the late Harold and Ruth (Fowle) Burnes. She graduated from Woburn High School and received her bachelor’s degree from Boston University.

Barbara dedicated her life to raising and caring for her family. She was a generous and loving woman who always put others before herself. She volunteered countless hours at the Choate Hospital as well as at a Women’s Homeless Shelter.

She remained active all her life and enjoyed golfing and playing tennis. But above all, her family always came first and she would do anything for them.

Along with her husband Spike, Barbara is predeceased by her parents, the late Harold and Ruth (Fowle) Burnes and her infant son Robert J. Boyle.

Barbara is survived and will be deeply missed by her three children; Gerard Boyle Jr and Wife Julie of Rockport, Carolyn Hollis and husband Michael of Gloucester, Brian Boyle and wife Marilyn of Reading. She is also survived by 11 loving grandchildren; Jennifer Aumiller and husband Robert, Julianne Heykoop and husband Jordan, Gerard Boyle III and wife Shannon, Meaghan Boyle, Grace Boyle, Michael Hollis and wife Erin, Kathryn Browne and husband Samuel, Amy Hollis, Jack Boyle and wife Lisa, Dan Boyle, Brooke Jagemann and husband Timothy and 16 great-grandchildren. Dear sister of David Burnes, his wife Barbara of Woburn and Richard Burnes, his wife Janice of Bedford. Also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews.
