Barbara L. (DeMeo) McCarthy- of Woburn, died peacefully, May 21, 2020 at the age of 86. She was the beloved wife of the late Carmen W. McCarthy.

Born and raised in East Boston, Barbara was a daughter of the late Anthony and Esther (Burke) DeMeo. She married the love of her life and best friend, Carmen on May 29, 1955. After getting married, they first settled in East Boston until permanently settling in Woburn in 1966.

After raising her children she worked at BASF Systems, RCA, and General Electric as a Quality Control Technician.

Barbara was a past member of the American Legion Post 101 Women’s Auxillary in Woburn. She was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and loved to watch her old time black and white movies while she crocheted, knit and simmered her Italian “gravy”. Her famous homemade manicotti’s were her specialty and her family’s favorite!

Barbara also had great sense of humor. Her quick wit and her sarcastic remarks were always right on. She also loved to dance and sing, and had an amazing soprano voice and sang like an angel up until the time of her passing. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten!
