Captain Michael Angelo Langone, ARNG (ret), age 90 of Woburn, peacefully Tues., April 21st, at home with his loving family by his side.  Beloved husband of Barbara Rose (Giannotti). Devoted father of Barbara Mulholland, her husband Chris of Chesapeake,VA, Eleanor Rappa, her husband Fred of Revere, and Michael Langone, his wife Laurie of Burlington. Cherished grandfather of Kristen Tavano, her husband Joe, Michael Rappa, his wife Allison, Kevin Mulholland, Katy DeLacy, her husband Rich, Chris Mulholland, Michele Glauber, her husband Graham, and Allison Langone; and one great-granddaughter, Emily Tavano, with another on the way; as well as numerous nephews & nieces, especially Roberta (Giannotti) Carlson, Peter Santamaria & Tayla Carlson; and cousins, Marie (Toscano) MacDonald & Netta (Antonioli) Mattaliano. Due to the current situation we are experiencing with the Corona Virus, arrangements are private and under the direction of the Lynch- Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in Michael’s memory to either of the following charities, Make a Wish MA and RI 133 Federal Street — 2nd Fl. Captain Michael Angelo Langone, ARNG (ret), age 90 of Woburn, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 21st, 2020 at home with his loving family by his side.  Born 30 Dec 1929 in Somerville, he was the only child of the late Raffaele “Ralph” and Mary “Mame” (Toscano) Langone. 

After graduating from Somerville High School, Mike enlisted with the Massachusetts Army National Guard, “The Nation’s First”, and attained the rank of Sergeant First Class before receiving a commission as an officer.  He attended Massachusetts Military Academy and eventually retired with the rank of Captain of Artillery after more than 30 years of service. 

Mike married his childhood sweetheart, Barbara Rose Giannotti, in 1952.  A licensed electrician, Mike worked for the Mitre Corporation in Bedford for many years before taking a job with American Airlines and working in both Boston and Las Vegas.  After retirement he continued to work part-time, transporting medical supplies and rental cars around New England. 

Mike was a ferocious competitor who enjoyed playing in cribbage and pinochle tournaments.   He also enjoyed being surrounded by his grandchildren and cooking enormous breakfasts for his extended family.

He is survived by his wife; his children, Barbara Mulholland & husband Chris of Chesapeake,VA, Eleanor Rappa & husband Fred of Revere, and Michael Langone & wife Laurie of Burlington; seven grandchildren, Kristen Tavano & husband Joe, Michael Rappa & wife Allison, Kevin Mulholland, Katy DeLacy & husband Rich, Chris Mulholland, Michele Glauber & husband Graham, and Allison Langone; and one great-granddaughter, Emily Tavano, with another on the way; as well as numerous nephews & nieces, especially Roberta (Giannotti) Carlson, Peter Santamaria, & Tayla Carlson; and cousins, Marie (Toscano) MacDonald & Netta (Antonioli) Mattaliano.

    Papa or Dad was what most of us called Mike, growing up Papa was always at all of our special family events. From Birthdays, Graduations and Weddings Papa was their. Recently the family celebrated Papa on his 90th Birthday. Far out living many of his friends, he can rest at peace knowing we as a family will take care of Nana. You will be missed, Rest in Peace Papa we will see you again!

    We had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Langone at Michelle & Graham’s wedding. Such a warm, kind man who clearly loved his family. Our thoughts & prayers go to his beautiful family, especially our special family, Mike & Laurie’s. RIP Mr. Langone! You will be missed.
