Margaret “Peggy” (Burke) Wackrow, a Woburn resident for the past fifty-five years, passed away on Monday, April 20th at Care One Assisted Living Facility in Wilmington from Covid19.  The beloved wife of the late John E. Wackrow, she was eighty-seven years of age.

Born and raised in Somerville, she was the only daughter of the late Francis and Nora (Connole) Burke. She attended St Joseph’s catholic school and graduated with the class of 1950.

Following high school Peggy began working at the Better Homes catalog company in Cambridge.  After several years of working in Cambridge she accepted a job as a receptionist for Mack Trucks where she met her husband, Jack. Shortly after they were married, they moved to Woburn where they raised their family.

Peggy was a wonderful wife and homemaker and found great joy in keeping up her home and raising her 5 children. Peggy was incredibly proud of her Irish heritage and she was a devout Catholic and communicant at St Charles Borromeo Church. Although she was a quiet woman, Peggy had a wonderful sense of humor and could get the whole room laughing. Above all else, Peggy loved her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and was instantly liked by everyone who met her.

Peggy was predeceased by her brothers, Francis “Pro” and John “Jackie” Burke and her son John Wackrow Jr. She is survived by her children Sheryl Walsh, her husband James of Arizona, James F Wackrow, his wife MaryRose of Medfield, Christopher Wackrow, his wife Karen and Daniel Wackrow, his wife Alison all of Woburn. I want to offer my condolences to all of the Wackrow and Burke families at this difficult and painful time. I was very saddened to hear that Peggy has passed on .It is especially painful because of the terrible effects and restrictions caused by the coronavirus. I will
always cherish the memories of Peggy and Jack visiting my sister, Marie and Jack in Stoneham and sharing funny stories, telling jokes and mixing in a few Irish songs as well. Peggy was always funny and witty and brought a lot of life to any gathering she attended. Please know that your mother , Peggy , will always have a warm place in my heart and that she will always be in my prayers . Rest In Peace , Peggy and my God bless you and all of your loving family.

  10. To the Wackrow family:

Please accept my deepest sympathies on the passing of your mother. It’s tough enough having to deal with the loss of your mother, but now have to deal with social distancing and Covid 19 issues as well, my heart goes out to you all. And I’m sorry we’re not able to see everyone.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this most difficult time.

    Respectfully,

    Todd F. Livolsi
