Marjorie P. “Margie” (Duran) Keane

Marjorie P. “Margie” (Duran) Keane  –   in Woburn, April 19th, at eighty eight years of age.  Beloved  wife of the late William A. “Bill” Keane.  Cherished mother of Karen E. Murphy of Stoneham, Teresa B. Keane of Woburn, John J. Keane, his wife Mary Jane of Chelmsford, David J. Keane of Woburn and sadly the late Edward G.  and William A. Keane Jr..  Very dear sister of the late Catherine Masterson, Peter Duran, Doris Sheedy, Joseph Duran, Charlena Buitkus, Charles Duran, and Ethel Lang.  Loving grandmother of Kevin Murphy, his wife Adrienne of GA., Morgan Murphy of CT, Christopher Keane of Woburn, the late Shane Murphy and five great grandchildren.  Also lovingly devoted by all her nieces, nephews, great and grand.  Due to the current situation we are experiencing with the Corona Virus, arrangements are private and under the direction of the Lynch – Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn.

Marjorie P. “Margie” (Duran) Keane passed away at the Bear Hill Nursing Center, Sunday, April 19th at the age of 88.  She was the beloved wife of the late William A. “Bill” Keane, who passed away in 2002.

Born in Woburn, she was a first generation child of Irish immigrants,  the late Patrick and Teresa (Donahue) Duran.  Margie was among st seven brothers and sisters while growing up in the South End of Woburn.  They were an “irish clan” and remained devoted and all together as one, over their lifetime.

A graduate of Woburn High School, Margie married her high school sweetheart Billy Keane, and together they brought six wonderful children into the world to whom she was truly devoted. A “stay at home” Mom, Margie never sat idle, when she was not tending to the children she could be found on a ladder hanging wallpaper, painting outside or inside their home (whichever needed it!), canning chairs, re-upholstering  and re finishing furniture.  Not only did she do this in her own home, but also if she could help out her sisters, brothers or friends, she did!

Her cooking abilities were outstanding! Margie cooked breakfast lunch and dinner always making three times the recipe at dinner “just in case.”  Margie was always prepared for those last minute invites of family and friends, and so enjoyed it.

When it came to clothing, again Margie was often times not just the designer but the seamstress who put it all together.  From coats, and dresses to wedding gowns and suits for both men and little boys! And they were beautiful.

What truly filled Margie’s life, for all her life, was her family.  The love, devotion and respect from and for all, was tremendous.  She followed all her children’s academic and sporting adventures, travelling to wherever she had to, to see them play!   When the last day of school arrived, all the male children, cousins and friends would line up outside the Keane homestead where Margie would proceed to give them all their “buzz cuts” for the summer!

The Keane home was truly the hub of all activities for family and friends.  Everything Irish, was everything Margie!  She was very proud of her heritage and proud of her family.  Margie was a woman of tremendous faith, and all of her life was full, of  her faith, her family, always surrounded with an abundance of love.

Sadly, in addition to Margies parents and husband she was predeceased by  two sons, Edward G. “Eddie” and William A. “Billie” Keane Jr..  along with her dear grandson, Shane Murphy, and all her siblings, Catherine Masterson, Peter Duran, Doris Sheedy, Joseph Duran, Charlena Buitkus, Charles Duran, and Ethel Lang.

Cherished mother of Karen E. Murphy of Stoneham, Teresa B. Keane of Woburn, John J. Keane, his wife Mary Jane of Chelmsford, David J. Keane of Woburn .  Loving grandmother of Kevin Murphy, his wife Adrienne of GA., Morgan Murphy of CT, Christopher Keane of Woburn and five great grandchildren.  Also lovingly devoted by all her nieces, nephews, great and grand.

Due to the current situation we are experiencing with the Corona Virus, arrangements are private and under the direction of the Lynch – Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn.
