Mary E. (Walsh) Reddy – in Stoneham, peacefully on April 5th. The beloved wife of the late William L. Reddy. Loving mother of Diane E. Simpson and her husband Kenneth of NH, William L. Reddy Jr. and his companion Karen Sapienza of NH, Stephen P. Reddy and his wife Terri of Andover, Jane M. English and her husband David, Nancy J. Guilli and her husband Daniel all of Woburn. Devoted sister of Teresa Hurley of Reading and Joanne Tonneson of Maine. Adored grandmother of Leanne and Michael Simpson, Meghan and Erin Reddy, Michael and Stephen Reddy, Emily and David English Jr., Danielle, Andrew and Anna Guilli and cherished great-grandmother of six . Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Due to the current situation we are experiencing with the Corona Virus, arrangements are private and under the direction of the Lynch – Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn.

Mary E (Walsh) Reddy – passed away Sunday afternoon, April 5th, at the Arnold House in Stoneham.  The beloved wife of the late William L. “Bill” Reddy, Mary was ninety five years of age.

Born in Somerville, Mary was the daughter of the late William and Anna (Condon) Walsh.  Raised and educated in Medford, Mary was a graduate of Medford High School.

Following high school Mary secured herself a position at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, where she worked till a short time after her marriage.

Mary moved to Woburn after her marriage to her sweetheart and soulmate, Bill Reddy. Their life together spanned over fifty years and five wonderful children blessed the Reddy household.  They were very devoted to each, having celebrated all of their social activities, academic milestones and fine achievements through college. Summers were at Hampton Beach for years, where all friends and family gathered for fun times, long walks and cookouts! 

The grandchildren began arriving and Mary was thrilled beyond words!  She shared a very special relationship with each of her grandchildren, always enjoying their presence at all of the holiday gatherings, baptisms, birthdays and anniversaries .

Mary was very proud of her family, and felt very blessed to have such a lovingly devoted family, all throughout her ninety five years.  Actually, the Reddy family just recently had a wonderful celebration with ALL her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, welcoming her into her ninety fifth year!

Mary, a very warm, kind, caring woman, had tremendous faith, who showed great strength and compassion to all.  Mary lived , loved and laughed, a legacy that will long be remembered.

She is survived and will deeply missed by her children Diane E. Simpson and her husband Kenneth of NH, William L. Reddy Jr. of NH, Stephen P. Reddy and his wife Terri of Andover, Jane M. English and her husband David, Nancy J. Guilli and her husband Daniel all of Woburn. Devoted sister of Teresa Hurley of Reading and Joanne Tonneson of Maine. Adored grandmother of Leanne and Michael Simpson, Meghan and Erin Reddy, Michael and Stephen Reddy, Emily and David English Jr., Danielle, Andrew and Anna Guilli and cherished great-grandmother of six . Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Due to the current situation we are experiencing with the Corona Virus, arrangements are private and under the direction of the Lynch – Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in Mary’s memory to the charity of one’s choice.

  3. Dear Jane, David, Emily,David Jr, and all the Reddy family, we are so sorry to hear of the loss of your mom. She was everything you described in her obituary. She and my mother had many mutual friends and I enjoyed talking to her about all the many stories I heard and learned from over the years. I look back now and realize why they were called the “great generation”! She and all her friends were strong women long before it became the latest rage. God bless your mom and take comfort in her belief she’s with your dad and so many of their friends and family in heaven watching over all of you all. Eileen and John
