Born in Stoneham, Phyllis was a daughter of Grace (Masotta) and the late Joseph Castronova. She was raised in Woburn and graduate of Woburn High School.

For over 28 years, Phyllis worked in the cafeteria at Woburn High School. It was there where she made many lasting friendships and truly enjoyed working with the students.
