Paul M. Nickerson, passed away at the age of forty-two, after suffering an unexpected medical emergency while at work. He was the loving husband of Christy M. (Gibbons) Nickerson, and devoted father of Connor and Norah.

Born in Malden, he was the dear son of Jo-Ann (Picard) Nickerson of NY. Raised and educated in Melrose, he was a graduate of the Northeast Vocational High School, Class of 1995. Although a carpenter by trade, Paul found his passion in auto mechanics.

He started his career at Hogan Tire in Woburn and later moved on to work at Ronnie’s Automotive in Billerica where he found his home.  Paul forged strong friendships at work, especially at Ronnie’s, where the crew became his extended family.

Paul met Christy through mutual friends in 2005. That March, they went on their first coffee date and they had an instant connection. They spent every day together from that day on. While dating, they loved bowling, going out for Chinese food, watching movies, attending Red Sox games and watching live local bands. Christy introduced Paul to camping at what became their favorite place, Wabanaki Campground, on Ossipee Lake. In October of 2007, they were married and over the past 12 years they built a beautiful life together.  Paul and Christy were partners in every sense.  They balanced each other perfectly. As a couple, they found joy in the everyday little things, celebrated amazing highs, and as a team conquered life’s every obstacle.  They laughed hard, loved fiercely, and always kissed each other goodbye.

In 2009, Paul found his true purpose when he and Christy welcomed their first born son, Connor.  Just when they thought their family was complete, they were blessed again in 2014 with the birth of their youngest daughter, Norah.  Paul was the ultimate Daddy.  He was Connor’s biggest fan.  He took great pride and enjoyment in supporting and encouraging Connor and his teammates at hockey and on the baseball field.  Norah was a true Daddy’s Girl. He was not afraid to let her put make up on him or pick up the Barbies to play pretend.  Connor and Norah were Paul’s everything.

Paul, his family, and extended family shared truly wonderful memories. Family gatherings, time at the lake, boating, camping, sporting events, WWE events, and visiting theme parks were some of Paul’s favorites.  Paul loved the family’s annual trip to Storyland. He was always right there, to take his children and nieces and nephews on any and all rides, especially the roller coasters. It was hard to say who had more fun.

Paul was an avid sports buff.  As a dedicated Boston fan, Paul enjoyed watching the Patriots, Red Sox and especially the Bruins. When it came to trivia, Paul had a knack for remembering movie quotes, sports facts, and music lyrics.  At work, he was playfully nicknamed “Alexa” for his quick ability to answer general trivia questions.

Paul loved his family and loved life.  He was a man who always went above and beyond for his wife, children and family. Paul could always be counted on to lend a helping hand, make you laugh, or give you sound advice; he was a true friend.

We may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we will remember not just that you died, but you lived. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget.
