Margaret A. (Geoghegan) DuLong beloved wife of the late Melvin A. “Ski” DuLong passed away at the Aberjona Nursing Center on Saturday, January18th. Margaret a long time resident of Woburn was one hundred and one years of age.

Born in Winchester, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Dunnigan) Geoghegan. One of seven children she was was raised and educated in Winchester, graduating from Winchester High School, with the Class of 1936.

In 1942 she married the man she would spend over the next sixty nine years together, “Ski” DuLong. Together they brought one daughter and two sons into the world, to whom she was very devoted. A very dedicated wife and mother, she took care of everything at home all through out the years. The one special day that was set aside for her each week was Sunday”s, which Ski dedicated as Mother’s Day; this day always entailed all the family, going out for a ride, getting an ice cream and then returning home! Always a day that went on for years.

After the children were grown they moved to the Central Square section of the city were they remained, until later years.

Margaret loved television, and enjoyed watching the game shows and movies on one tv and Ski would watch all the sporting activities on the other! At the end of the day there would be great conversation on the “reviews.”

Reading was also an area, that Margaret throughout her lifetime enjoyed. The library was a frequent place she and all her family enjoyed. Reading was the key that unlocked many doors!

Margaret was truly the “Matriarch” of her family. She was solidly in the middle of eleven children. She was a great listener, had good common sense always throughout her life, and the advice she would give, was always appreciated and found to be very helpful .

A faithfilled woman, she was most active at St. Anthony Church all throughout the years. Missions, retreats, teaching CCD, helping out in any way possible, was who Margaret was. She had a long life, full of faith, love and family, which not just warmed her heart, but those with whom she shared her life.

  1. I have so many wonderful memories of Margie, the strongest being the love and pride she had for her family. She worked hard to take care of everyone. The many family occasions we had were great times filled with joy and love. I know “Ski” feels complete now, but the loss sets in for the rest of us. May she enjoy being with God and her heavenly loved ones.
