Rosalie “Rose” A. (Lauzon) Faherty – a longtime resident of Woburn, died peacefully January 4th at her home, at the age of eighty-seven. She was the beloved wife of 65 years to Joseph “Joe” C. Faherty.

Born and raised in Somerville, Rose was one of four daughters, born to the late Franklin and Grace (Mottau) Lauzon. She attended Somerville Schools and was a 1950 graduate of Somerville High School.

On May 22, 1954, Rose married the love of her life, Joe Faherty. In 1958, they settled in Woburn, where they raised nine children and spent most of the remainder of their years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who loved to spend time with and spoil her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

While raising her young family, Rosalie worked many different part-time jobs.
When her children were all in school, she went to work in the Woburn Public School System, where most of her years were spent at the Shamrock School, where she was a devoted, beloved secretary.

Entertaining family and friends was one of her favorite things to do. She hosted many parties and always made room for one more at the table! She loved to bake, and each evening there was a homemade dessert on the table after dinner. She was famous for her brownies, Crowning Glory, and especially her homemade Irish Bread. Each St. Patrick’s Day she made at least a dozen Irish Breads to share with her family and friends, and many of her children have continued that practice.

Joe and Rose spent many years in Newport Richey FL, where they made many friends and enjoyed family visiting and playing games, particularly Scrabble, card games, and Mahjong.

Rose had a bright personality and loved to laugh, but especially enjoyed making other people laugh and bringing joy to their day. She had a sharp wit and a feisty personality, even up until the end.

Being Roman Catholic was the cornerstone of her life and she had a deep and strong faith, which she passed down to her family. She will be deeply and sorely missed, but never forgotten.

Along with her husband Joseph, Rose is survived and will be deeply missed by her nine children, Joseph Faherty of Woburn, Cathy Bryant, her husband David of Woburn, Eileen Mills, her husband Michael of Gloucester, Carol Hogan, her husband Paul of Woburn, Tricia McCall, her husband Frank of Gloucester, Maureen McNamara, her husband John of Reading, Rosemary Donovan, her husband Barry of Woburn, Franklin Faherty, his wife Rita of RI and Judy Faherty and Michael Pelliccio of CT. Loving grandmother of 24 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Dear sister of the late Alice Biron, Gertrude Curley and Barbara Reidy.

A Funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Wednesday, January 8th, at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Charles Church, 260 Main Street, Woburn at 10. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Calling hours Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made in Rosalie’s memory to the Alzheimers Association 309 Waverley Oaks Rd, Waltham, MA 02452 or to Cops For Kids With Cancer, Inc., PO Box 850956 Braintree, MA 02185.
