Loretta May Doherty – 83, of Woburn,Thursday, December 26th. Beloved wife of 62 years to James N. Doherty Jr. Cherished mother of Kimberly Doherty, her partner Jane O’Reilly of Woburn, James N, Doherty III, his wife Elke of Woburn and Dwayne Doherty, his wife Lisa of Tewksbury. Loving grandmother of Christina, Lauren, Liam and Aidan. Close cousin and friend of Patty Foley and also survived by several neices, nephews, cousins and friends. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, on Saturday, January 4th, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Woodbrook Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Calling Hours, Saturday morning, 8 – 9:45, prior to the Mass in the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, MA.

 

 

Loretta May Doherty – 83, of Woburn died peacefully, Thursday, December 26th, at her home with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of 62 years to James N. Doherty Jr.

Born and raised in Woburn, Loretta was the only child of the late James and Eleanor (Foley) Donovan. She was educated in Woburn and a graduate of St. Charles High School. 

For many years, Loretta worked for Loral electronics.

Loretta was a devoted, caring and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was always the life of the party and could light up a room. She enjoyed reading, playing Bingo and card games with friends and visiting the beach. Biddeford, Maine and Naples, Florida were two of her favorite destinations. She was also an avid Bruins and Patriots fan, and especially enjoyed rooting for Gronk.

Along with her husband Jim, Loretta is survived and will be deeply missed by her three children, Kimberly Doherty, her partner Jane O’Reilly of Woburn, James N, Doherty III, his wife Elke of Woburn and Dwayne Doherty, his wife Lisa of Tewksbury. Loving grandmother of Christina, Lauren, Liam and Aidan. Close cousin and friend of Patty Foley and also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
