Michael James Young – a longtime resident of Woburn passed unexpectedly, October 30th, at the age of sixty-one.

Born in Cambridge, Michael was the cherished son of James H. Young and his wife Elaine. The second of seven children, he was raised in the South End of Woburn. Michael attended St. Charles School, Daniel L. Joyce Junior High School and went on to graduate from Woburn High School, with the Class of 1976. During his time at Woburn High, he was a starting cornerback on the undefeated 1975 Superbowl Championship team, which was recently inducted into the Woburn Hall of Fame as part of the inaugural class. Following in the footsteps of his father, Michael was a proud graduate of Boston College, where he studied Political Science.

In 1974 Michael met Joanne and later proposed in 1982. Michael and Joanne married in 1983 at St. Anthony’s Church in Woburn. Three years later, they welcomed their first child, Colleen, followed by Michael Jr., Scott and Allison. Many memories were made at their home on Markham Terrace in Woburn and vacationing in their favorite spot, York Beach.

For 39 years, Michael worked in the label industry, most recently working at Springfield Label. A charismatic businessman, Michael loved meeting new people, building trust and maintaining positive relationships over his many years in the field.

Anyone that knows Michael knows how much he loved his animals. Over recent years, he would field many calls from his friends and family with questions about their pets. His children were lucky to have his support in training their beloved dogs, Timber and Hattie.

Michael had a heart of gold and was always willing to lend a hand. Above all, he loved his children and was exceptionally proud of each of their many accomplishments.
