Josephine R. (Chioccola) “Chickie” Smith – of Woburn, October 24th, at the age of eighty-three. Beloved wife of Donald A. Smith of Woburn. Cherished daughter of the late Mary (Grasso) and Guy Chioccola of Winthrop.  Survived by her husband’s children, Donald Smith Jr. of Brookline, Donna Smith of Winthrop and the late James Smith. Dear sister of Rose Marie Chioccola of Stoneham and the late Michael Chioccola, his wife Dorothy of Barnstead NH. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Anthony’s Church, 851 Main St., Woburn, on Wednesday, October 30th, at 11 a.m. Interment to follow in Woodbrook Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Calling Hours, Wednesday morning, 9 – 10:30 in the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, MA 01801, prior to the Mass.

Josephine R. (Chioccola) “Chickie” Smith – of Woburn, October 24th, at the age of eighty-three. She was the beloved wife of Donald A. Smith Sr. of Woburn.

Born in East Boston and raised and educated in Winthrop, Josephine was a daughter of the late Mary and Guy (Chioccola) of Italy. She was a graduate of Winthrop High School class of 1955.

For many years, Chickie worked as an airline inspector for Sky Shift. She later worked for the Woburn Police Department where she started as a matron and worked various other positions.

In her younger years, Chickie enjoyed taking trips to Vegas and spending time with family and friends.

Along with her husband Don, Josephine is survived by her husband’s children, Donald Smith Jr. of Brookline, Donna Smith of Winthrop and the late James Smith. Cherished daughter of the late Mary (Grasso) and Guy Chioccola of Winthrop. Dear sister of Rose Marie Chioccola of Stoneham and the late Michael Chioccola, his wife Dorothy of Barnstead NH. Also survived by her nieces and nephews.

  1. I was very sorry to hear of Chickie‘s passing. It’s been years since we’ve talked but I have very fond memories of our conversations. She was always a very kind person. My condolences to the entire family.

    I don’t know you I’m so sorry to hear about your wife passing she is now resting In peace may god be with you and your family you are all in my prays always remember the good times you had with her
