Philip A. HAWLEY – Tuesday, October 8th. Beloved husband of the late Ruth H. (McIsaac) Hawley. Loving father of Marie P. Hawley of VT, Agnes L. Parise, her husband Paul of Arlington, Joyce E. Hawley of Woburn, Patricia C. Behrens, her husband James of TX, and the late Ruth A. Hawley. Dear brother of the late Robert,his wife Alice of Woburn and the late Irene Santa Maria, her late husband Peter. Cherished grandfather of Kendra, Melissa, Frank, Jimmy, Andrea, Katie, Bobby, Ali, Cody, Mikayla and great-grandfather of 10. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass on Saturday, November 2nd at 10 a.m. in St. Barbara’s Church 138 Cambridge Rd., Woburn. Interment to follow in Woodbrook Cemetery. At the families request there are no calling hours. Services are under the direction of the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home 263 Main St., Woburn. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in Mr. Hawley’s memory to St. Barbara Church or to a charity of ones choice.

Philip A. Hawley – a longtime resident of Woburn, entered into eternal rest , Tuesday, October 8th at Winchester Hospital, at the age of 93. He was the beloved husband of the late Ruth H. (McIsaac) Hawley. 

Born in Pepperell, Philip was the son of the late Alfred and Agnes (Rodier) Hawley. At the age of six, Philip and his family moved to Winchester until settling in Woburn. He was a 1943 graduate of Woburn High School. 

During High School, Phil met his future bride Ruth, while working at Gorins department store. After marrying, they moved to Billerica where they lived for 10 years until moving back to Woburn. While in Billerica, Phil served as a volunteer firefighter, even serving as Captain on the Auxiliary Fire Department. He also worked as a first aid instructor for the American Red Cross for many years and taught emergency medicine to many of the local Fire and Police departments. 

For 45 years, Phil worked at Riley’s Leather as a human resource manager and later as part owner until retiring in 1989. 

Phil was a longtime active communicant of St. Barbara’s Church where he served as an acolyte for many years. He also served as a lay minister doing prayer services at Woburn rehab. He enjoyed traveling with the church’s senior group and took many bus trips to Canada and even visited Hawaii. He was a kind and giving man and will be deeply missed.

Phil loved spending time with his family especially taking trips to the Cape and Hampton beach. He enjoyed family gatherings and attending family events.
