Jane L. (Larsen) Forsyth 84, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2019 surrounded by her family.

Jane was the daughter of the late John and Catherine (Fitzsimmons) Larsen and the beloved wife of the late Richard R. Forsyth. Devoted mother of Michael Forsyth and his wife Martha of Exeter, NH, Maren Forsyth and her husband Alex Scangas of Wilmington, Grayson Forsyth of Woburn, and Catherine Callaghan and her husband Tim of Wakefield. Loving “Grammy” of six cherished grandchildren, Maren, Richard, John, Matthew, Thomas and Shannon.

Born in Portland, Maine, Jane graduated from Falmouth High School in 1953 and the University of Maine at Orono in 1957 with a bachelor’s degree in Education. Following graduation, she worked at Amesbury High School in Amesbury Massachusetts and later as an English Teacher at Burlington High School in Burlington, Massachusetts.

While attending the University of Maine, she met Richard Forsyth. Their relationship began to blossom and in 1959 they married. Woburn is where they settled, made their home and brought four wonderful children into the world.  Both Mr. and Mrs. Forsyth were totally devoted to their children, supporting any athletic, academic, or  adventure they chose throughout their lives.  Always embracing  the many friends they met along the way, treating them all as family.

Jane was quiet, hardworking, devoted to home, family and a devout Catholic. During her spare time, Jane enjoyed reading, music, singing, movies and antiquing.

Jane was a fabulous cook and had a sweet tooth, which led to many experimental desserts! Jane also loved entertaining and left her guest wanting to be invited to the next event.

One of Jane’s greatest joys was being a devoted daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother. She provided wisdom and guidance to her children and grandchildren. While she was a true lady, very humble, patient and gentle, she also possessed a great strength of will, character and intelligence. Jane had a calmness about her which she used to diffuse situations throughout her entire life.

Jane was devoted to her husband Richard throughout their 58 years of marriage. They were friends and truly enjoyed each other. In later years, they could often be found in the early evenings sitting in their garden having a cocktail, discussing the day’s events. Best Friends to the end.

  11. Mrs. Forsyth was like a mother to me. I grew up with her children and was always a guest in her home. I went on a lot of family vacations with them and she always made me feel like I was family. I have such great memories of her that I will never forget. I liked to make her laugh and in return she gave me great words of wisdom and advice. I also have a lot of great recipes from her 🙂 I am glad she is a peace and is back with Dick once again. I will miss her and will never forget her.
    Love,
    Jean Pugatch
