Nancy M. Hubbard, beloved wife of James A. Hubbard, and adoring mother to Jay, Shawn, Mark, and Alex, passed away suddenly on Friday, August 30th. She was sixty three-years of age.

Born in Woburn, Nancy was the youngest of six children born to the late Frank and Lillian (MacDonald) Eaton.  Nancy was raised in Woburn with her five siblings, Donnie, Dick, Barbara, Bob, and Larry. She attended St. Charles school in her early years, and then Woburn High School, where she graduated with the class of 1974.  Following High School, Nancy attended Salem State College, where she earned her Masters in Education.

In 1979, Nancy married James “Jimmy” Hubbard, also of Woburn.  Nancy and Jimmy enjoyed skiing in New Hampshire, attending concerts of their favorite musicians, and going out to restaurants with friends and family.

After starting her career in the Billerica school system, Nancy stayed home for a number of years to raise her four sons.  Nancy would return to teaching years later, in Woburn, where she continued her passion of working with young children, having taught first grade at the Wyman School for over 25 years.  Throughout this time, Nancy was an active member of the Woburn Teachers Association, cherishing her relationships with her colleagues as much as with her students and their families.

Nancy was the ultimate “hockey mom”. Weekends were spent traveling to various hockey rinks and sports fields throughout the state. She could always be found in the stands or on the sidelines, cheering on her four boys.

Nancy spent every summer at her favorite place in the world – the beach at the family cottage in Little Neck, Ipswich.  There was always a constant flow of family, including her 19 nieces and nephews, and friends visiting the cottage, which only lent to the reasons she loved it so much.  She could always be found chasing her sons around the beach, reading a good book, or playing with her grandchildren that she adored so very much. “Grandma” had the biggest heart and cherished every moment spent with her grandsons and granddaughter.  She will be dearly missed by all that knew her.

Beloved wife of James A. Hubbard. Devoted mother of James L. Hubbard, his wife Brandy of Andover, Shawn P. Hubbard,  Mark T. Hubbard, his wife Whitney, and Alex J. Hubbard all of Woburn. Dear sister of Donald Eaton, his wife Chris of Petersham, Richard Eaton, his wife Sharyn of New Hampshire, Barbara Poore, her husband Larry of Woburn, Robert Eaton, his late wife Nancy, and Lawrence Eaton, his late wife Marcia of Ipswich. Cherished grandmother of Cole, Connor, Lillian and Grant Hubbard. 6. Dear Jimmy and Family,
We are deeply saddened by the loss of our friend Nancy. Our wonderful memories go back to high school. Some of our favorite times with Jimmy and Nancy that we smile when we think about to this day would be riding bikes around Charlestown to get to the tall ships, countless card nights, crazy Halloween parties organized by Carol C., nights out at the Scotch & Sirloin where we danced to J.D.Billy and Ken, beach days in Ipswich when the kids were tiny and a fun family vacation to Disney back in the 9o’s. So many countless memories! Sending our sincerest condolences to the Hubbard and Eaton families during this most difficult time.

Her smile shone even in the blinding summer sun – no beach glare or sunglasses could soften its welcome sight. Our family grieves and offers its support from London during this trying week. Every comfort and condolence to family and friends. I pray you can soon revel in the warm memories.
