Guy F. DeBenedetto , 83, a longtime resident of Woburn, died peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, June 16th at the Sawtelle Hospice House in Reading. He was the beloved husband of the late Jeanne R. (Flaherty) DeBenedetto.

Born in Cambridge, Guy was the son of the late Guy and Rita DeBenedetto. He attended school in Cambridge and was a graduate of Matignon High School where he excelled on the gridiron.  It was there that he met Jeanne, who would later become his wife.  He attended Boston College on a football scholarship and graduated with a B.S.B.A. in accounting.

Throughout his career he worked in the private, public, and academic sectors.  At one point he served as the Director of Budgets for the MBTA.  His last position, and the one he retired from, was with Boston University.  While at the University he was responsible for the BU Bookstore and many of the schools real estate holdings.

Guy was a dedicated and supportive husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  When his children were young, he coached Woburn Pop Warner football.  He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in various sporting events. Summers at Hampton Beach, NH with his family, traveling with his wife, and playing poker with friends provided many happy memories for Guy. He was also an avid Patriots fan.  He spent all of his married life as a resident of Woburn and recently moved to an assisted living facility, The Residence at Pearl Street, in Reading. His beloved cat, Judy, was always by his side.
