Daniel J. Skaling –  in Stoneham at the age of eighty-one.  Beloved husband of Theresa (Pierce) Skaling of fifty four years.  Loving father of Laura Backman, her husband Scott of Georgetown, Daniel Skaling, his wife Allison of Cape Coral FL, and Theresa Skaling of Stoneham.  Dear brother of the late Frederick and Joseph Skaling.  Cherished grandfather of Peter and Stephanie Backman, Michael and Brandon Skaling. A Funeral will be held in St. Patrick’s Church, Central Street, Stoneham on Thursday , May 2nd, at 10a.m.  Interment is private.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Calling Hours at the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Wednesday May 1st, 5-8 p.m.  Please in lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to the Salvation Army, 25 Shawmut Rd., Canton, MA 02021

Daniel J. Skaling – a resident of Stoneham, died peacefully, April 28th at the age of eighty-one. He was the beloved husband of Theresa (Pierce) Skaling of fifty-four years.

Born in Boston, Dan was a son of the late Peter and Mildred (Travers) Skaling. He was educated in Melrose and a graduate of St. Columbkille High School, class of 1955. Upon graduation, Dan enlisted in the US Army, where he served his country proudly until being honorably discharged.

For over 41 years, Dan worked as a letter carrier for the US Postal Service.

In 1965, Dan married his beloved wife Theresa and started their family in Somerville until moving to Stoneham, where they have remained.

Dan and his family enjoyed taking trips to the Cape, Niagra Falls, White Mountains and Disney World, where they made so many great memories. He was also an avid golfer and enjoyed golfing at Unicorn Gold Course with his brother-in-law.

Dan had a deep, strong faith and was a very patient and kind man. He had a terrific sense of humor and always left people with a smile on their face. He will be deeply missed.

Along with his wife Theresa, Dan is survived by his children, Laura Backman, her husband Scott of Georgetown, Daniel Skaling, his wife Allison of Cape Coral FL, and Theresa Skaling of Stoneham. Dear brother of the late Frederick and Joseph Skaling. Cherished grandfather of Peter and Stephanie Beckman, Michael and Brandon Skaling.
