Ida M. (DiStasio) Roketenetz – of Woburn, January 27th, at the age of ninety-three. Beloved wife of the late Adam “Sonny” Roketenetz. Devoted mother of Karen Richardson, her life partner John Michael Cuneo of Billerica, Valerie Oteri of Woburn, and Patricia Roketenetz of Lynn. Dear mother-in-law of Edward Oteri of Tewksbury. Cherished grandmother of Adam Richardson, his wife Marissa, Samantha Marasca, her husband Jason, Alexander Oteri, his wife Nikki and Jared Oteri. Loving great-grandmother of Sydney and Breah. Dear sister of Emily Surette of Wakefield and Mario Dinallo of Woburn and the late Anthony, Daniel and George Distasio, Mildred Delong, Judy Valente and Helen Dobbins. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A Funeral will be held in the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, Thursday, January 31st at 11 a.m. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery.  Ida M. (DiStasio) Roketenetz  – a lifelong resident of North Woburn, died January 27th, at Winchester Hospital, cradled in the love of her family, at the age of ninety-three. Ida was the devoted wife of the late Adam “Sonny” Roketenetz.

Born in Woburn, Ida was the youngest member of her siblings and the beloved daughter of the late Philomena (Vecchia) DiStasio. She was educated in Woburn and graduate of Woburn High School, class of 1943.

In her early years, Ida worked at the Charlestown Navy Yard and loved to dance.

In later years, Ida enjoyed spending Sunday afternoons and Thursday suppers with her family and friends. Everyone was welcome in her home as she enjoyed having company and always greeted them with a warm smile, good food and endless cups of strong coffee. Ida enjoyed eating out, spending time reading and gardening and always started her day completing puzzles in the daily and weekly newspaper.

Ida and her husband Adam shared a mutual hobby of playing poker and blackjack while enjoying a glass of scotch. They also enjoyed many trips to Atlantic City and Las Vegas.

Everyone that knew Ida was charmed by her glowing smile, endless wisdom and zest for life. She will be deeply and sadly missed.

    Ida, I have mentioned to you many times how thoughtful and wonderful you were to me on your Thursday night open house Italian suppers!! My best and dearest friend Karen and her family have always made me feel welcome and like part of the family. You will be missed dearly, I will miss your laughter, your wit, your spunk and your hugs and kisses when you said bye and hope to see you next week. I love you Ida and your family, my prayers and thoughts are with you and yours.

  5. Auntie Ida was a family legend and a favorite of all. We loved to visit with her on our trips to Massachusetts where she always welcomed us with open arms and always made us laugh. She was a great lady and will will be missed but will live on in our wonderful memories of her. Our deepest sympathies to Valerie, Karen and Patty and your entire family.
