Robert L. Callahan- of Woburn, December 31st at the age of ninety-one. Beloved son of the late Bernard G. and Barbara G. (Connolly) Callahan. Devoted brother of Ralph J. Callahan of Woburn, Helen “Beverly” Chafe of Chelmsford, Bernice G. Smith of Tewksbury, Brenda M. Carter, her husband Ernest, Janet C. LaFreniere, her husband Daniel, all of Woburn and the late Bernadette “Mary” Callahan, Barbara L. Callahan, Elizabeth A. “Betty” McGee, Richard F., Russell P., Ronald R. and Bernard G. Callahan. Loving uncle of many nieces, nephews, great and grand. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, January 4th from 9-10 a.m. at the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home 263 Main St., Woburn. Robert L. Callahan – a lifelong resident of Woburn, died at his home, Monday, December 31st at the age of ninety-one. He was the beloved son of the late Bernard G. and Barbara G. (Connolly) Callahan.

Born in Woburn, Bob was the oldest of thirteen children. He was educated in the Woburn Schools, and a graduate of Woburn High School. Upon graduation, he was drafted into the US Army and served his country proudly during WWII where he was stationed in Germany and then in Alaska during the Korean Conflict. Upon his return, he worked for many years in the mail advertising industry, most notably, Watson Mailing Service for 28 years.

Mr. Callahan was very devoted to his family and took great pride in having twelve siblings and thoroughly enjoyed being an Uncle! He also enjoyed visiting the Suffolk Downs Race Track.

Bob was very patriotic and was a member of the DAV and American Legion.

In addition to his parents Mr. Callahan was predeceased by his siblings Richard F., Russell P., Ronald R., Bernard G. Jr., Barbara L., and Bernadette “Mary” Callahan and Elizabeth A. McGee.

He was the devoted brother of  Ralph J. Callahan of Woburn, Helen “Beverly” Chafe of Chelmsford, Bernice G. Smith of Tewksbury, Brenda M. Carter, her husband Ernest, Janet C. LaFreniere, her husband Daniel, all of Woburn, as well as the loving uncle of many nieces, nephews, great and grand.
