Katherine B. (Houston) Farina, of Woburn, died peacefully at Winchester Hospital, November 30th, at eighty-two years of age. She was the beloved wife of the late Louis J. Farina.

Born in Cambridge, Katherine was a daughter of the late Vivian “Olita” (Dubray) and Ira  Houston. She was raised and educated in Cambridge and a graduate of Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School. At the age of 50, she continued her education at Bunker Hill Community College where she obtained an Associate Degree in nursing.

For over 30 years she was a devoted nurse at Park Avenue Nursing Center in Arlington.  Katherine was a patient and caring nurse whom loved her patients dearly.  She was often the last friend to many of the patients at Park Ave. and brought a certain dignity and respect to the caring of those final years for many.

She enjoyed working out and could often be seen walking at 6am in the frigid cold at Horn Pond in Woburn.  She was an advocate for the less fortunate and always gave whatever she had to various people and causes.

Katherine was the cherished mother of Louis Farina, his wife Roberta of Dracut; Laura Farina of NH; Richard Farina, his wife Michelle of Everett;  Randy Farina, his wife Tina of Falmouth; loving fiance Edward “Ed” Cacciola of Arlington; dear sister of Jean Mahoney of Clifton Park, NY and the late Allen Houston; and devoted grandmother of Anthony, Dana, Ashley, Brittany, Nicole, Marco, Francesca and Novalie and great granddaughter, Genevieve.
