Mary A. Doherty

in Woburn, unexpectedly at seventy one years of age.  Devoted mother of Richard E. Doherty of Woburn.  Cherished sister of Edward J. Doherty Jr., his wife Michelle of Tewksbury, Margaret Mekjian of Woburn and Richard Doherty.  Loving and devoted Aunt of Christopher, Melissa, Kevin Doherty and Dymantha Emmanuel.  Very dear friend Sherry O’Connell. Also survived by very special great nieces and nephews.  A Funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Wednesday, October 10th at 10:45 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn at 11.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to calling hours 9-10:45 a.m. prior to the Funeral Mass. Remembrances may be made in Mary’s memory to the MSPCA 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844. Mary Doherty passed away after being stricken at her home Wednesday morning, October 3rd, 2018. The beloved daughter of the late Edward and Marion Doherty, she was seventy-one years of age.

Born in Boston, Mary moved to Woburn at an early age and along with her family lived in the Horn Pond Section of the city. Raised and educated here Mary was a graduate of Woburn High School along with the Class of 1965. F

After High School Mary entered the working world were she had secured herself a position at the Rexall Drug Store in the West Side. Mary remained there until it’s closing at which time she was the Manager.

Mary then ventured back to school getting her certification in Home Health Aide and as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Mary’s very kind and gentle demeanor, attributed to her success in the caring of others.

The greatest joy in Mary’s life was her son Richard, “Richy.” Her life revolved around him, always taking great pride in his accomplishments and all that he has done throughout his lifetime.

Mary was very devoted to her family. Every day and holidays, they all enjoyed each others company and spent endless hours sharing life with them.

Mary was a woman of endless love and kindness, who was always there to love, share and celebrate life with those whom she loved.

    I am so saddened to hear of Mary’s passing. We had great times at the senior center playing mahjongg. She will be missed. I will keep her in the ‘LIGHT’
