John F. Murphy, beloved husband of 58 years to Lucille (Catalano) Murphy, passed away at Mass General Hospital on Thursday September 20th , at the age of eighty.

Born in Medford and raised in Malden, John was a son of John and Grace (Durant) Murphy. He was educated in Malden and a graduate of Medford Vocational High School. While attending a dance in Wakefield, he met a lovely woman, Lucille.  That was the beginning of a relationship that scanned over fifty eight years and have continued their dance together ever since.

Moving to Woburn in 1976 they have made their home here since that time.  John had worked as a Production Manager at Eagle Graphics, where he retired in 2000.

John was extremely active throughout his life.  He absolutely enjoyed doing yard work around his home and taking care of the pool as it was always “the place” for summer activities, from barbecues parties and games in the pool.  They were also fortunate, to have a Summer Cottage in New Hampshire were again, it was the family’s place to be.

Traveling with his family to Florida, cruises to Caribbean, St. Martin, Cancun and Punta Cana to name a few, these were all places and destinations that were enjoyed by all his loving family.

John was a very loving, care free person who was so good and caring, to so many.  A tried and true avid NE sports fan he followed them all, Patriots, Bruins, Red Sox and Celtics.  John’s greatest love always though, was that of his wife and family, of whom he was so proud.
