Elizabeth “Betty” (DiFabio) Pruyne, of Florida and Woburn, died peacefully September 20th, at Winchester Hospital with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late George H. Pruyne.

Born and raised in Malden, Betty was a daughter of the late Dominick and Felicia (Verdone) DiFabio. She was educated in Malden schools and a graduate of Malden High School.

For many years, Betty worked for Arthur D. Little in Cambridge. There she helped with all of their catering and food service events, something she enjoyed and excelled at. Prior to that she also worked at Carolls in Medford and Montvale Plaza.

Betty was a gracious and loving woman who would do anything for her family. She enjoyed dancing and bowling and being surrounded by family and friends. She was an excellent cook and well known for her special “gravy”. You knew when she was making it because you could smell it for miles!

For the last 20 years she enjoyed the weather and life in Del Ray Beach, Florida where she made countless friends and memories.

Betty was adored and loved by everyone she met! She was a gift to her family and a true angel on this earth.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff on the 3rd floor of Winchester Hospital, for the care, compassion and love they showed to her during her time there.

Betty is survived and will be deeply missed by her children, Richard Pruyne of Andover, Ronald Pruyne of Woburn, Roy Pruyne and his wife Elaine of Woburn and daughter-in-law, Paula Pruyne of Andover. Dear sister of Laura MacDonald of Woburn and the late John, Frances, Albert, Mario, Robert and Dominick DiFabio.  Cherished grandmother of Robert, David, Kelley, Robert and Rachel and great grandmother of Leo and Mark.

To Ricky, Ronnie, Roy and family
We are one with you in mourning for a loss of your beautiful Mother. She was a great lady. She had been an inspiration to us. Her memories will be treasured in our hearts till the end of time. Stay strong. God loves you all.

  4. Bob (Bobby) and Judy MacDonald

To: Ricky, Ronnie, Roy, Paula, Elaine and the grand kids. Judy and I express our sincere condolences. I remember the great times that we (2nd generation) would spend at Nana D’s during the holidays. The uncles would get us started with the horseplay and jostling and then Aunt Betty and/or Nana D would bring us back down to earth; usually with a stearn look or worse!! Our sorrow is deep but our love and remembering Aunt Betty is deeper.

  5. Ricky, and family, I am so sorry to hear about your Mom. She was a great special lady. I will miss her phone calls. She taught me how to make that special “gravy” and I will think of her when I make it. It wont be as good as her though, ever. Thinking of you all……

  6. Our Deepest condolences go out to Auntie Lizzie’s family, with love Donna (DiFabio) And Steven DiDomenico
