Loving father of  James Ryan, his wife Karen of Stratham, NH, Robert Ryan of Woburn, Barbara Stryker, her husband Gordon of Chelmsford, Jeffrey Ryan of Watertown and the late Richard Ryan. Cherished grandfather of Nicole, Zachary, Elizabeth  and Charlie. Dear brother of John Ryan, his wife Joanne of Minnesota, as well as survived by several nieces and nephews. A Funeral will be held in the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, on Monday, September 17th at 11:30 a.m. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. Richard L. “Dick” Ryan, a life-long resident of Woburn, died peacefully, September 12, 2018 at Winchester Hospital. He was the beloved husband of 59 years to Edna L. (Meader) Ryan.

Raised and educated in Woburn, Dick was a son of James and Madeline (Leavitt) Ryan. He was a graduate of Woburn High School and received both his Bachelors and Masters Degrees from North Eastern University.

Dick was a proud veteran of the US Army and served his country proudly during the Korean Conflict, until being honorably discharged.

Dick was a carpenter by trade and a member of the local carpenters union.  He worked for Kennedy & Rossi Inc. in Arlington for many years as construction project manager until retiring in 1994.

After his retirement, Dick and Edna traveled and Dick also started taking French lessons. He was also a talented pianist. He loved staying on top of current events and was an avid reader.

Dick was very handy and loved doing projects around his home, which he was so proud of. He loved the outdoors and gardening but especially taking care of his lawn and keeping it bright and green. His family meant the world to him and spending time with them was his greatest joy.

Along with his wife Edna, Dick is survived and will be deeply missed by his children,  James Ryan, his wife Karen of Stratham, NH, Robert Ryan of Woburn, Barbara Stryker, her husband Gordon of Chelmsford, Jeffrey Ryan of Watertown and the late Richard Ryan. Cherished grandfather of Nicole, Zachary, Elizabeth and Charlie. Dear brother of John Ryan, his wife Joanne of Minnesota, as well as survived by several nieces and nephews.
