Ann Marie (McCarthy) Chisholm, of Woburn, formerly of Lexington and Nahant, died peacefully, Friday, August 3rd at the Neville Center in Cambridge, at eighty years of age. She was the beloved wife of Arthur J. Chisholm, with whom she would have shared 57 years of marriage on August 26th.

Born in Arlington and raised in Nahant, part of a large extended family, Ann was a daughter of the late Edwin “Joe” and Florence (Hunter) McCarthy.

She was educated in Nahant and a graduate of Lynn English High School.  She maintained lifelong friendships with her close friends from Lynn English whom she called her “club”.

For 30 years, Ann resided in Lexington and worked as a secretary in the school system at different elementary schools, Central Office, and at the Library at Lexington High School.  She was a Catechist for St. Brigid’s CCD program in Lexington for many years.

Ann was an avid reader and Anglophile who always found time to read after a day of work and child rearing and spent many hours with her nose in a book post retirement.  Her favorite genre of books were British detective novels.

Ann loved the beach and spending time with her family, and the pairing of the two was what made her happiest.  Her favorite times were days spent on the beach in Nahant or in Seabrook, NH surrounded by her family.

Along with her husband Arthur, Ann is survived and will be deeply missed by her children, Mary Chisholm of Woburn, Joseph Chisholm, his wife Brenda of Tewksbury, Jean Kimball, her husband Paul of Milford and Kathleen Correa, her husband Mathew of Hopedale.  She will be missed by her grandchildren: Delaney, Brett, Hallie, Clarissa, Robert, Tyler, Caroline and Lilly, to whom she will always be their beloved Nana; by her siblings, Ed McCarthy of Billerica, Claire Flebbe, her husband Jack of Nahant, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Ann was predeceased by her brother, John McCarthy.
