Sandra A. “Sandy” (Gately) Culhane, a lifelong resident of Woburn, died peacefully, July 12th, 2018 at Winchester Hospital.  The beloved wife of 48 years to Charles T. Culhane, she was sixty nine years of age.

Born in Winchester, Sandy was a daughter of Richard F. Gately Sr. and the late Doris A. (Richardson) Gately.  Raised and educated in Woburn Sandy was a  graduate of Woburn High School, Class of 1967.

Sandy devoted her entire life to caring for her family.  They truly were her world.  A very  sweet, kind,  caring, woman, Sandy was also a protective and loving wife, daughter, mother and grandmother. Summertime and family vacations were her favorite.  Sandy thoroughly loved to travel and travelling all together brought on many wonderful times and great adventures!

Sandy loved hosting dinners,  parties and gatherings at her home.  Be it a typical Sunday afternoon get together,  with the entire family  or all of the Holidays, it was phenomenal.  Charlie first taught Sandy how to cook,  when they married.   A very short time later, she was in command of the kitchen right up to the end!    Always the special treats were her chicken wings and spaghetti sauce,  which were the delicious staples and always ready available.

Sandy loved Elvis Presley and was even lucky enough to have had tickets to one of his performances, front row!  A beautiful  bright smile,  combined with her precious spirit, and  fun personality,  Sandy  will be greatly missed!  Sandy was a selfless and caring woman who never, ever complained; even when times were oh so tough.  Always  there for those  she loved,   caring for her mom when she was ill, and enjoying a cup of coffee daily with her dad.  Sandy  lived each day of  her life fspecifically for  her family,  always putting them first!

Along with her husband Charlie and father, Richard, Sandy is survived and will be deeply missed by her children, Charlene Cugno, her husband Kevin of Billerica and Robert Culhane of Woburn. Cherished grandmother of Juliana Culhane and Nathan Cugno. Dear sister of Richard Gately Jr., his wife Linda of Woburn, Darlene Paras, her husband Harry of Woburn and the late Daniel Gately, his wife Eve of Woburn. Also survived by her beloved dog and companion, Daisey Mae, as well as many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

A Funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, Tuesday, July 17th at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Barbara’s Church at 10 a.m. Interment in Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester.
