James E. Veno, a life-long resident of Woburn, died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, June 26th, 2018. He was the beloved husband of 72 years to Rose M. (Hede) Veno.

Born in Woburn, Jimmy was raised by his beloved grandparents, the late John D. and Mary B. Veno. He was educated in Woburn and left high school to serve his country proudly during WWII. He was a proud member of the US Army – 336th Combat Engineers, and served until being honorably discharged at the war’s end.

For over 40 years, Jimmy worked as a skilled mason for Monsanto in Everett. After his retirement, Jimmy was often seen helping the local elderly with various masonry projects. He was a family man, building the home for his wife and children, where he spent the next 63 years. Jimmy was devoted to caring for his family, and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with them whether it was repairing cars with his children and grandchildren or fixing up their family homes. Jimmy was also an avid baseball fan and enjoyed traveling, having visited many National Parks across the US.

Jimmy is survived and will be deeply missed by his wife Rose. He was the loving father of Raymond Veno, his wife Veronika Szabo, of Westford, James “Doug” Veno Jr., his wife Denise Balian, of Woburn, and Janice R. Leach, her husband Douglas, of Woburn.
