of Winchester, Winthrop and recently of Woburn, June 20th, at eighty-years of age. Cherished son of the late Matilda (Grande) and the late Joseph F. Selvitella and his wife Assunta.  Devoted husband of 53 years to Laura (Blumenthal) Selvitella. Beloved father of Leslie Selvitella, her husband John Flaherty of Woburn. Dear brother of the late Marie and the late Robert Selvitella, his wife Marlene “Billie” Pennellatore of Winthrop, brother-in-law to Sylvia Blumenthal of Boston and Peter Blumenthal, his wife Julie Weiman of Newton and son-in-law of the late Bertha and Saul Blumenthal. Loving uncle of Robert Selvitella, Robin Lasala, Elsie Capone Selvitella, Carrie, Susan and Sandy Weisenfeld, Richard, Seth and Sarah Blumenthal, as well as many great-nieces and nephews. His Funeral Service will be held Monday, June 25th at 10 a.m.at the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn.Interment in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Weymouth. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 9-10 a.m prior to the service. Remembrances may be made in Joseph’s memory to the American Diabetes Association PO Box 15829, Arlington, VA 22215.

Joseph A. Selvitella, of Winchester, Winthrop and recently of Woburn, died peacefully, June 20th, at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington at eighty-years of age. He was the devoted husband of 53 years to Laura (Blumenthal) Selvitella.

Born in East Boston, Joe was a son of the late Matilda (Grande) and the late Joseph F. Selvitella and his wife Assunta. He was educated in Boston and a graduate of Boston Latin High School. He received his Bachelors Degree in Physics from Boston College and attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY, for his Masters. He never completed his Masters Degree as his enlisted in the Army, where he served his country proudly until being honorably discharged.

For over 20 years, Joseph worked as a Software Executive for Chase Manhattan in Waltham. Always an early adopter of technology, he excelled and had a passion for computers, whether at work or at home.

Joe was a talented pianist and a gourmet cook! He loved cooking and trying new things, even taking cooking classes at one point to fine tune his skill. In his younger years, he enjoyed golfing and could often be found hanging out and visiting his friend, Mike Tierno at Theater Mobile in Winchester. Joe was a kind, fun and stubborn man who will be sadly missed.

Along with his wife Laura, Joseph is survived and will be deeply missed by his daughter Leslie Selvitella and her husband John Flaherty of Woburn. He was the dear brother of the late Marie and the late Robert Selvitella, his wife Marlene “Billie” Pennellatore of Winthrop, brother in-law to Sylvia Blumenthal of Boston and Peter Blumenthal, his wife Julie Weiman of Newton and son-in-law of the late Bertha and Saul Blumenthal. Loving uncle of Robert Selvitella, Robin Lasala, Elsie Capone Selvitella, Carrie, Susan and Sandy Weisenfeld, Richard, Seth and Sarah Blumenthal, as well as many great-nieces and nephews.
