Michael P. Lally, R.N., died peacefully, May 26th, at his home in Woburn, surrounded by his loving family. He was sixty years of age.

Born and raised in Woburn, Michael was one of eight children born to the late Patrick and Jean (Sullivan) Lally. He grew up in the Central Square Section of Woburn and graduated from Woburn High School, class of 1976. Continuing his education, he received his LPN at Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational School, after working as a Nurse’s Aide at the Woburn Nursing Center.  He received his Associates Degree in Nursing from Middlesex Community College, his Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Regis College and his Master’s Degree in Nursing from Grand Canyon University.  One of his passions after receiving his Master’s Degree was teaching Nursing classes at the Pima Medical Institute located in Tucson, AZ.

Michael was a kind, nurturing and attentive Nurse who truly found his calling in life. He worked at the Choate Hospital, Caufield Center, Apria Home Care, Winchester Hospital and for over twelve years, at Tucson Medical Center in Arizona. While in Tucson he served as the Nurse Manager of the Neurology/Neurosurgery Unit. A strong leader, Michael had the ability to bring calm to any situation, a true caregiver. Nursing was not just his profession, but his lifestyle. Throughout his career he received many accolades and awards, including Arizona Nurses Association Top Honors – The Excellence in Clinical Practice Award.  Family and friends often referred to Michael for questions and answers relating to health.  He was a beloved mentor that made a profound difference in the life of many nursing students and novice nurses.

Michael was a dedicated and devoted Dad and Papa. He along with his family loved everything Disney and took many trips to Disney World together. When he moved to Arizona nothing put a smile on his face more than when his children and grandchildren came to visit.  Throughout his life, family was always of utmost importance to him.  As his children and grandchildren grew he would never miss important events – you would always find him at a dance recital, figure skating show, sporting events or whatever event his children and grandchildren were participating in.  Every summer when he returned to New England for “Camp”Camp he made it a point to get to Fryeburg Maine to visit with his children and grandchildren.  Michael was dedicated to family. Not a Sunday would go by where he did not speak to his mother. Michael will be deeply missed but his family and friends will certainly be sustained by all the many wonderful memories that fill their hearts.

Michael is survived by the mother of his children and loving friend, Karen Lally.  He was the loving father of Kelliane S. Lally, her fiancé Kenny Newell, Meredith S. Benoit, her husband Matt, Michael P. Lally Jr. (The Lally), and Michaela Michaud, her husband Marc all of Woburn.  Cherished brother of Joyce M. Gray, her husband Kevin, Susan E.
