Helen T. (Garvey) O’Reilly- of Woburn, May 21st. Beloved wife of the late Charles L. “Dapper” O’Reilly. Devoted mother of Charles L. O’Reilly, Jr. and his wife Eleanor of Woburn, Patrick L. O’Reilly and his wife Catherine of Salem, NH, David J. O’Reilly and his wife Kathleen of Billerica, Peter T. O’Reilly and his wife Joan, Jane C. O’Reilly and her partner Kim Doherty, and Elizabeth A. Flaherty and her husband Kevin, all of Woburn. Loving grandmother of Shawn, Erin, Molly, John, Matthew, Caitlin, Heather, and Jessica and the late Sarah O’Reilly, and great-grandmother of Cameron, Callen, Harry, Evelyn, Luna and Connor. Dear sister of Dorothy Schmitz of Medford and the late Eleanor Crowley, Marion Garvey, Barbara Lapper, Shirley Ryan and John, Kenneth and William Garvey. Also survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Marylou O’Reilly of Chelmsford, John O’Reilly and his wife Audrey of Woburn, Grace Pierce of Woburn, and the late James O’Reilly, Joan Bishop, and Roseanne Paulas, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her Funeral Mass will be held Friday, May 25th at 12 noon  in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn. Please meet directly there. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours, Thursday 4 – 8 p.m. at the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn.  Remembrances may be made in Helen’s memory to the Woburn Public Library 36 Cummings Park, Woburn, MA 01801.

Helen T. (Garvey) O’Reilly  passed away at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading, Monday evening May 21st.  The beloved wife of the late Charles L. “Dapper “ O’Reilly , she was eighty-eight years of age.

A lifelong resident of Woburn, Helen was the daughter of the late John and Nellie Mae Garvey.  Raised in the South End of Woburn, Helen attended Woburn Schools and was a graduate of Woburn High School along with the Class of 1948.

In 1954 she married “Dapper” O’Reilly to whom she was devoted to for over fifty years. Helen’s world was all about family.  She was actively involved in all of her children’s activities and as time went on, remained active in all of her grandchildren’s too! 

Spring, summer and fall was always time for the yard.  Helen enjoyed being outside working on her garden.   Reading good books of all different genres peaked Helen’s interest all throughout her life.  When there was some free time, she and her friends would enjoy a bus trip for the day to Foxwoods.

Helen lived, loved and cherished each day, always being devoted to her family.

Sadly, Helen was predeceased by her husband “Dapper, ” her parents, her siblings, Eleanor Crowley, Marion Garvey, Barbara Lapper, Shirley Ryan and John, Kenneth and William Garvey and her granddaughter, Sarah O’Reilly.

She was lovingly survived by her children, Charles L. O’Reilly, Jr. and his wife Eleanor of Woburn, Patrick L. O’Reilly and his wife Catherine of Salem, NH, David J. O’Reilly and his wife Kathleen of Billerica, Peter T. O’Reilly and his wife Joan, Jane C. O’Reilly and her partner Kim Doherty, and Elizabeth A. Flaherty and her husband Kevin, all of Woburn, her grandchildren, Shawn, Erin, Molly, John, Matthew, Caitlin, Heather, and Jessica, her great-grandchildren Cameron, Callen, Harry, Evelyn, Luna and Connor and her sister, Dorothy Schmitz. Helen is also survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Marylou O’Reilly of Chelmsford, John O’Reilly and his wife Audrey of Woburn, Grace Pierce of Woburn, and the late James O’Reilly, Joan Bishop, and Roseanne Paulas, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
