Michael P. Schmitz passed away,  Wednesday, April 18th  after being stricken at his home.  The beloved son of Dorothy M. (Garvey) Schmitz of Medford and the late Stanley Schmitz, he was sixty five years of age. Born in Medford, Michael attended Medford Public Schools and was a graduate there.  Following high school, he secured himself a position as a truck diver, which he did for the next thirty years.  Travelling throughout New England, Michael became very familiar with all the streets,  highways and back roads.  For the last decade he has been delivering flowers in and throughout Winchester and Medford. Michael thoroughly enjoyed watching the Boston sports teams all throughout the year.  An avid rock and roll buff, he not only enjoyed listening to this genre of music but he would read all about the era and the musicians who shaped it. Michael shared a great love for his family.   His nieces and nephews occupied a very special place in his heart and his life.  He was instrumental in getting a couple of them interested in rock and roll, enjoying  both the history and the music of the era. Michael also had a passion for cooking. He was phenomenal in the kitchen and enjoyed preparing a good meal for his mother, which he helped care for. A very traditional man, Michael was a man of great faith.  Generally very quiet in nature but strong in his convictions,  there wasn’t anything in the world he would not do for both family and friends. If anyone was in need, Michael was right there, doing whatever was necessary. of Medford, April 18th at age sixty five.  Michael was the beloved son of Dorothy M.
