Mary Mae P. (Mulrenan) Swymer, 89, a long-time resident of Wichester and formerly of Woburn, died peacefully Tuesday, November 28th at Woburn Nursing Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert W. “Sonny” Swymer, with whom she was married for 65 years.
Born and raised in Woburn, Mary was the daughter of the late Patrick and Anna (Flaherty) Mulrenan. She was educated in Woburn and a graduate of Woburn High School.
When Mae met and married the love of her life, Sonny, they made their home in Winchester where they raised their five children and have remained. Mae and Sonny were very active in the Winchester Community and very proud residents. Mae was a den leader for her sons Boy Scout Troop and also very active in the Immaculate Conception Church, where she was a longtime communicant. In more recent years, Mae volunteered with the Senior Housing Tenants Association and attended various activities.
For over 30 years, Mae served the Winchester Community proudly as a Crossing Guard. She will be remembered for always having a smile on her face and brightening up everyones day.
Mae was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed vacationing up at Hampton Beach in New Hampshire with family and friends and supporting them in all that they did and accomplished.
Mary is survived and will be deeply missed by her five children, Robert, and wife Virginia of Woburn, Paul, and wife Doreen of Billerica, William, and partner Cathy of Woburn, Stephen, and his wife Karen of Winchester and Patricia Edwards, and husband James of Woburn; nine cherished grandchildren, Billy, Jeff, Jessica, Melissa, Sarah, Patrick, Jimmy, Michael and Rachel; as well as 6 loving great-grandchildren, Brendan, Brianna, Avery, Connor, Asa and Oliver.
A Funeral will be held from the Lynch ~ Cantillon Funeral Home 263 Main Street, Woburn on Saturday, Dec. 2nd at 9am. Followed by her Funeral Mass at St. Charles Church at 10am.
