OBITUARY:

Martina M. Catania, passed away unexpectedly in Tampa Florida, Friday, June 2nd. The beloved daughter of Mariko (Shimabukuro) Catania of Woburn and the late Martin Catania, she was thirty six years of age.Born in Winchester, Martina was raised and educated in Woburn. Following high school Martina worked as a waitress. Being the very social young woman that she was, she so enjoyed meeting and chatting with all. Martina brought three sons into the world and they were, with out a doubt, “her boys.” Spending time together was always first and foremost. Board games, walks and trips to the beach were some of the best times. One night a week dedicated to “movie night” where they would all decide on a movie. Together they would make the popcorn, get some candy, nestle right in on the couch and be entertained for the evening! Martina also loved to bake all sorts of different cakes and the children’s most favorite, Toll House cookies. Celebrating birthdays and holidays were always times she would ‘wow’ the family with her unbelievable baking talents. Martina shared a wonderful relationship with her family. Being together for the holidays and family celebrations or to just stopping by, they all were very devoted to and protective of each other. Martina’s beautiful smile, loving presence and tremendous sense of humor and unique, contagious laugh will be forever remembered. Sadly Martina was predeceased by her Dad, Martin. She is lovingly survived by her mother, Mariko Catania of Woburn; her sons, Johnnie M. Catania of Woburn, Camron Canario and Aaron Canario, both of FL; her siblings, Mark Catania, his wife Nadine of NE, John Catania, his wife Elisa of Amesbury, Cynthia Baez, her husband Mike of W. Bridgewater and Angela Catania, her husband Jason of Woburn. Martina is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. A Funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Wednesday, June 14th at 11:45 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn at Noon. Interment in Calvary Cemetery, Winchester, MA. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to calling hours at the Funeral Home morning 9:00 – 11:45 a.m. prior to the Mass. 3. Although words can’t always help–especially at a difficult time such as this–please accept my most sincere sympathies. Your loss is felt by many in the Woburn community and beyond.

Try to remember that although death ends a life, it does not end a relationship. May you all find comfort in one another.

    Kindest regards,
    Matthew Gangi

  4. I have only met Martina a couple of times throughout the past two years but she was a wonderful women. Within those times she was always so happy when I saw her with her son. Her face was always lit up with joy and it was so infectious. She was a great mom and loved her sons greatly and they are lucky to have someone who cares so much about them. Even though she has passed the memories she has made remain. Leaving her loved ones with a sense of happiness. My thoughts go out to her sons and family she’s will always be with you know matter what.

  5. Tina, you are a beautiful angel watching over your three amazing boys now. Whenever I think of you, the first thing I see is your smile. That smile was contagious, it was impossible not to be in a good mood and laughing a lot when you were there! Sharing many good memories. I hope that you rest in peace with your dad, and all the other angels in heaven. You will be forever remembered. R.Mahoney Woburn

  6. My Thoughts and Prayers are with Tina’s Sons, Family & Friends during this most trying time. I will always remember her infectious laugh and amazing personality.
I will always hold tight the times she was a part of and all the fun we had.

  7. My heart breaks for all of you and for Tina’s boys. I haven’t seen her in ages, but have fond memories of her from when I was always at your house with Cynthia back during our Kennedy days. So many great memories at that house on Washington St. You guys have always been an amazing, close-knit family and I know you’ll keep her memory alive by reminiscing thru the years. I know it’s not the same as having her here, but it’ll be so important to those boys to have those memories you all share. Xoxoxo

Love and hugs to you all!!!! ~ Jessica (Grady) Doucette

  8. My condolences to all of Tinas family and friends. She was an amazing woman with a huge heart, smile, and laugh. That laugh! I will never forget her and all the great times we had. Much love to you all.
