OBITUARY:

Jeanette A. ( Szynkiewicz) Lawnicki passed away at the Lahey Clinic, Saturday morning April 15th. The beloved wife of the late Henry Lawnicki, she was ninety years of age.

Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Mary Szynkiewicz. Raised and educated in Somerville, she was a graduate of Somerville High School, Class of 1942. Jeanette continued on to college where she was a graduate of Mt. Ida Junior College.

In 1949 she and Henry married. They moved to Woburn in the early fifties, where they remained over the years. They raised two wonderful children, to whom they were dedicated to and actively involved with!

Jeanette had worked at Jordan Marsh back in the day, as an assistant buyer. Once the children were in school she returned to work, only this time it was as secretary to the Assistant Principal at Woburn High School, Paul Sweeney. She remained there for just about twenty years.

Jeanette and her family were great travellers! They travelled throughout the world, enjoying each and every country, its culture, food and people! For Jeanette’s eightieth birthday, her family brought her to the Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena California to celebrate the occasion and had a ball! Jeanette’s family was her world. They all so enjoyed being and doing things together and when the grandchildren arrived it just added a wonderful dimension of family.

A very kind, generous and thoughtful woman who had great faith. Throughout her years she was extremely active in St. Barbara’s Church, Parish, and Woman’s Club. Jeanette also took part in the Lexington Emblem Club and later the Billerica Emblem Club, again always giving of her time and energy.

Sadly Jeanette was predeceased by her parents, sister Francis and husband of fifty two years Henry in 2001.

Jeanette is lovingly survived by her children Eugene W. Lawnicki,DMD, his wife Denise of Winchester and Barbara A. Lawnicki,DMD, her husband Rodney Zukowski of Woburn, and grandchildren Grace and Richard Zukowski. A Funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Thursday, April 20th, at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St Barbara’s Church, 138 Cambridge Road, Woburn at 10 a.m.. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours from 6 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday evening, April 19th. Remembrances may be made in Jeanette’s honor to the MSPCA at Nevins Farm 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844

  1. Barbara,
Thinking of you and your family during this sad time. I remember your Mom from those baton twirling days. Wishing you peace and strength.

    Always,
    Ellen Lang-Towle

  2. Jeanette was one of our Emblem Club sisters, who came to the Billerica Club from Lexington along with Edith Danforth and Shirley O’Connor. She was a Past President, which means she put a lot of time and hard, devoted, loving work into raising money for all our many charities. To me, she was funny, kind, adventurous (loved Foxwoods), adored her dog and her children. I am sorry I did not see her before she left this world. She will be missed inside my heart. Rest in peace, Jeanette! Susan Hutchinson, Billerica, MA

  3. With deepest condolences to the Lawnicki family! We know there’s a special place in all of our hearts for our mothers, just like there’s a special place in every mother’s heart for her children. We know you will continue to carry her memory in that special place in your heart. We are sincerely sorry for the loss of your loving mother. With love, Marisa & Tommie
