OBITUARY:

Cynthia M. (Porter) Galante-Ormes, passed away at the Ashland Farm Nursing Home in North Andover, Friday, March 10th. The beloved wife of the late Roger Ormes and the late Edmund M. Galante, she was eighty-eight years of age.

Born in Woburn, Cynthia was one of two siblings born to the late Simon and Florence (Davenport) Porter. Raised and educated in Woburn Cynthia was a graduate of St. Charles High School along with the Class of 1946.

After graduating from St. Charles, Cynthia met the love of her life Ed Galante who had just returned from active duty overseas. After a courtship of a little over a year, they married! A devoted mother, Cynthia, raised six children whom she was extremely proud of. Being a homemaker throughout her life and a woman of tremendous faith, she raised her children to be strong in their faith and share in the same strong values of family.

1965 marked a special year for Cynthia, as it was the year she and Ed bought a summer home in Laconia, New Hampshire. This home became a very special place for their family to gather over the years. Every year, Cynthia would bring the children to Laconia for the summer where the family spent countless hours with each other. In addition to Laconia, Lake Winnipesaukee was a number one spot and had a special place in Cynthia’s heart. She enjoyed the company of her family and friends while enjoying the lake swimming and sunbathing. Sadly in 1975 Ed passed away.

In the early eighties, Cynthia, married Roger Ormes who was a long time family friend of the Galante’s. Cynthia and Roger had many wonderful adventures together throughout their marriage. They traveled the world together! They later moved to Florida where they stayed during the winter months and enjoyed many wonderful hours at the lake house in Laconi.

A multi-talented woman, Cynthia was known for her incredible skills with artwork, particularly oil painting which she had done ever since she was young. Cynthia’s culinary skills were well known amongst family and friends. Fried meatballs, Easter pie, turkey stuffing, eggplant parmesan to name just a handful of dishes she was well known for. Holidays were definitely special, especially Christmas, where she would cook for 20 or more people!

In addition, she was very active and loved her sports. Playing golf, watching the Red Sox, and during the winter months, skating and thoroughly enjoyed snowmobiling!

Cynthia will always be remembered not only for her talents, but also her personality. She was a classy, funny, honest and just a real sweetheart! She was very particular in her ways and always strived for perfection in everything she did. Impeccably dressed, always looking her best from head to toe, and always with her radiant smile!

Sadly, in addition to her parents and her husband Ed, she was also predeceased by her husband Roger.

She is lovingly survived by her children Edmund Galante of Maryland, Cynthia Eriksen, her husband Ronald of Haverhill. David Galante, his wife Sharon of Tewksbury, Richard Galante, his wife Maureen of North Andover, Cheryl Vafiades, her husband Vincent of FL, Kimberly Carciero, her husband Edward of Haverhill. Devoted sister of Robert Porter, his wife Delores of Woburn. Wonderful ‘Nana’ to eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be held in the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Friday, March 17th at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to call 9:30-10:45 prior to the Service. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in Cynthia’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St, Watertown, MA 02472.
