Dionisio , was brought in to the world in Madeira, Portugal, a place that has remained ever so close in his heart, all throughout the years. He was born to the late Rosalia (Gomes) Malho. Growing up in Madeira, Dionisio was educated there and it is where he met his lovely wife Irene to whom he has been devoted to for over fifty two years.

When they married they brought three wonderful children into the world in Medeira. They remained in Medeiia for a short time then, moving to Angola as Dionisio served his country proudly in the Portugese Army, during the Revolution.

Following his duty to his country, they all returned to Madeira, prepared and completed their paperwork and the following year headed off to America!

Arriving in Woburn in 1977, it is here he made his home with his family, securing a position with JJ Riley then to DeCosta’s Industry for a number of years and then Dole and Bailey, where he remained until his retirement .

All throughout the years he was very active in the Portugese American Club, in the South End of Woburn. All holy days, special celebratory days and common happenings, Dionisio was a significant part of it all. He was also very proud of his wine making abilities! He had his own press and oak barrels and for a good number of years, hand made it all!

His love for his family and grandchildren, was strong and he was always very very protective of them all. He really enjoyed showing them how to do things and how to repair anything at all, at any time, with duct tape! He was masterful.

Dionisio had a great love for his family, his country of birth and the country where he lived. A proud Portuguese gentleman, he never forgot his roots and from the time he arrived in America, he always returned to his homeland every few years, to keep in touch with those who remained.
