OBITUARY:

William J. “Bill” Zampbell passed away at Wilmington Health Care, Christmas Eve, December 24th. Beloved husband of the late Lucy (Samourian) Zampell Bill was eighty one years of age.

Bill was the only child born to William and Mary (Iovanna) Zampell. Bill was raised and educated in Winchester, enlisting in the US Army serving in Korea, during the Korean War. Upon his return home, Bill, married the love of his life Lucy Samourian. They journeyed together over sixty one years, having brought six wonderful children into the world. Bill and Lucy moved to Woburn right after they married, nestling in to the North Woburn section of the city.

Bill also had soon joined the Local 25 Teamsters Union, spending most of his career driving for Consolidated Freight, located right here in Woburn.

Bill was mostly a homebody. He thoroughly enjoyed his backyard, particularly during the spring, summer, and fall. A wondeful vegetable garden with all the tomatoes, peppers, green beans along with many other vegetables, always producing bumper crops! He also enjoyed just puttering around his home, fixing what needed to be fixed and determining what projects needed to be completed.

Bill and Lucy enjoyed trips to Las Vegas, Foxwoods and Moheghan Sun. They really enjoyed the shows, lights and many people they often meet on their visits. They were also very active in the American Legion Post 101, where they would join in the different social gatherings and fund raisers that would be run to assist those in need. They had also established many dear friends at the American Legion Post 101 in Woburn. Bill had also served as a part time Constable for the Middlesex County.

Sadly Bill was predeceased by his wife, Lucy, his children William J. III, Laurie, James and Robert Zampell.

Bill is the loving father of Doreen M. (Zampell) Galante of Woburn, Michael D. Zampell, his wife Julie of FL. Devoted “Grampy” of Amy, Amanda, Melissa and Michael Zampell, Chelsie, Nicholas, and Vincent Galante, Katelyn and Joey Zampell, along with 9 loving great-grandchildren. Dear father in law of Laura Zampell of Bedford and David Galante of Woburn. A Grave Side Service will be held, Thursday, December 29th at 11:30 a.m., in Calvary Cemetery, Winchester. In lieu of flowers, rembrances may be made in Bill’s memory to Friends of Woburn Veterans, C/O Veterans office, 144 School St. Woburn, Ma. 01801.
