OBITUARY:

Herbert F. ‘Herb’ Salzer passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, November 1st in Lowell. The beloved son of the late George W. and Mary (Daniel) Salzer he was just sixty three years of age.

Born in Conneticut, Herb was one of four boys. The family later moved to New Castle, NH, where he was a graduate of St Thomas Aquinas High School, graduating with the Class of 1971.

Herb immediately went into the working world following high school. For a good number of years he had worked at State Street Appliances, as a driver, which was the profession he remained at over the years.

During which time he had also served in the Army National Guard from 1980 thru 1994.

When able to have some leisure time Herb enjoyed fishing. Wether the ocean or a lake it was always enjoyable to spend time trying to make that “great catch.”

When it came to family he thoroughly enjoyed his nieces and nephews. For all of their achievements, awards, graduations, games, and personal accomplishments, Uncle made every attempt to be there. Spending holidays with family was near and dear to him. Even on Sundays throughout the years he would go to his brother Rob’s home for dinner with his family. He would enjoy a delicious home cooked meal, spend some special time with them and return home with some left overs and special made meals for the week!

Herb was a man who greatly appreciated anything that was shared with him. Throughout his life, there were some ups and downs, but never did he lose faith in himself; he would pick himself up, brush himself off and get right back in the race.

Sadly Herb was predeceased by his Mom and Dad.

He is lovingly survived by his brothers and their families, George W. Salzer II, his wife Anne of NH, Robert C. Salzer, his wife Mary of Amesbury, and David D. Salzer of ME. Loving uncle of Adam Salzer, his wife Emily, Brianne, Daniel, Alec and Ana Salzer and great uncle of Robert W. Salzer. Private Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn . Please, at the families request donations may be made in Herb’s memory, to the Wide Horizons for Children, 375 Totten Pond Road, Suite 400, Waltham, MA , 02451.
