OBITUARY:

Geraldine M. “Gerry” (Flanagan) Rae passed away at the Woburn Nursing Center on July second. The beloved wife of the late Ernest E. “Ernie” Rae she was eighty two years of age.

Born in Woburn she was the daughter of the late William and Marie (Duchuck) Flanagan. Raised and educated in Woburn, she was a graduate of Woburn High School along with the Class of 1951

Following high school she married her sweetheart Ernie Rae. They nestled right there in North Woburn, where they have made their home ever since. Bringing seven children into the world, needless to say kept Gerry very, very busy over the years! Everything was alway meticulously maintained from their home to the seven children and two adults! Gerry always made sure that each and every meal, breakfast, lunch and dinner were always enjoyed together. As the family grew so did all the conversations and intrigue at the dining table!

Summers were spent at the Cape in Hyannis on the shores of Craigsville Beach. This was the beach that they spent many happy and fun filled summer days with family and friends right up to just recently. Gerry and the family loved the beach and all the activities that were so enjoyed there by everyone.

Very much a home body, Gerry always loved being surrounded by her family. Her home has been the hub of activity for all familial celebrations. She was just full of so much energy all throughout her life, taking care of the individual needs of all, three meals a day and always home cooked, Gerry doted on them all and loved doing for them individually and as an entire group!. Always with a smile, kind words and a hug for each!

Gerry and Ernie travelled somewhat, but their favorite spot was always Cape Cod! Close enough but yet far enough way. They had a wonderful group of friends they had established over the years, and shared many wonderful times there and at home through out the years.

Gerry was a wonderful conversationalist. She showed great interest in people! Loved chatting with friends and strangers alike! A very bubbly personality, kind heart and wonderful mother Gerry’s greatest gift in life was her family . When the grandchildren started arriving she was absolutely thrilled and remained very close to each one, having her special relationship with each!

A lovely, caring, kind and cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Gerry’s legacy will remain close in the hearts of those with whom she shared her life.

Sadly Gerry was predeceased by her parents, husband of sixty six years, Ernie and son Donald .

She is the devoted mother of Bruce D. Rae, his wife Susan, Lawrence E. Rae, his wife Karen all of CA, Diane M. Anderson, her husband James of FL, William E. Rae, his wife Renita of Wilmington, Scott G. Rae, his wife April of Bedford Steven M. Rae, his wife Julie of Walpole. Dear mother-in-law of Barbara Rae of Woburn. Loving sister of Judith Blackman, her husband Ray of NC and Sally Venezia, her husband Bob of FL. Adoring grandmother of eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A Funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Tuesday, July 12th at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main St, Woburn at 10.
