OBITUARY:

Russell G “Russ” Richardson, passed away at the Winchester Hospital, Saturday, June 25th. He was the devoted husband of the late Patricia (Patsy) Richardson for 61 years.

Russ , born in Medford was the son of the late George and Andrea (Madsen) Richardson. Raised in a large family of three sisters, and four brothers, he was a graduate of Medford High School along with the Class of 1945.

Russ’ devotion to his family was absolute. The love and loyalty to his siblings was unshakeable. That same force of love was unwavering and unconditional, extending from his wife, to his three children, five grandchildren, and great granddaughter. His greatest pleasure was to be surrounded by his family. As the years went by and the family grew, he couldn’t have been happier or more proud of his wonderful grandchildren who were so lovingly devoted to him over the years.

Russ had an army of friends, several of whom he met in the first grade. Many of these friends and their wives were close friends throughout his life. However, his network of friends continued to grow throughout his life because of his good nature, kindness and compassion. Russ was still making friends even in his closing months.

A very humble and hardworking man, he was known for his generous spirit. Always making the time to lend a hand to others, being family, friends, neighbors, or simply acquaintances Russ was always present and available. He was entirely selfless in his actions. With Russ, it was all about other people, never about himself. All throughout the years he was a magnificent son, husband , father, “Pop,” and friend. Russ had taken loving care of his dear wife Patsy, especially through her many health challenges over the last several years of her life.

To know Russ was to smile. He was a gifted storyteller who loved to laugh and make others laugh with his endless collection of jokes.

Sadly in addition to his wife Patsy and his parents, Russ was predeceased by his siblings Dorothy Ferris, Ethel McCormack, William Richardson, his wife Ruth, and Wayne Richardson, and sister in laws Ruth Richardson and Joyce Richardson.

Russ is lovingly survived by his children Gayle Murphy, her husband Robert of Boxford, Russell G. Richardson,Jr and Susan Richardson all of Woburn. Dear brother of , Douglas Richardson of NH, Stuart Richardson, his wife Mary of Methuen, Evelyn Flaherty, her husband Charles of Melrose and the late Dorothy Ferris, Ethel McCormack, William Richardson, his wife Ruth, and Wayne Richardson. Dear brother in law of Donald MacCormack of Medford and John Connors of Woburn. Devoted “Pop” of Shannon and Brian P. Murphy, Stacy, Russell and Katie Richardson. Great grand father of Caroline Farley. 1. Richardson family,

    God bless,

    Charlie, Sandy, Charlene, and Bobby.

  2. Richardson’s, we are so sorry to learn of your loss. Russ has left many good memories with us, with his ability to always bring a smile if not an outright laugh to all situations. He also left us with the lesson through example, of how to be “totally” devoted to those who you love. We may all rest assured that Russ is happy and at peace back home once again with his dearest love, Pat. Here is a smile (;-) to you Russ, may you RIP.
