OBITUARY:

Robert C. Shaw passed away at the Glenn Ridge Nursing Center in Medford on Tuesday, April 5th. The beloved husband of Josephine V. (Mannino) Shaw, he was eighty years of age.

Born in Cambridge, he was the son of the late John and Florence(Bedard) Shaw. Raised and educated there, he was a graduate of Boston Trade.

An evening out dancing with friends, Bob was introduced to Josephine Mannino. Well, it was love at first sight and the dancing had continued over the next fifty two years! They married just about a year after meeting, made their home in Medford briefly and then nestled right in over on the West Side, where they have happily remained.

Bob began working at Canada Dry where he remained for a good number of years and then to Scully Signal in the early nineties, where they remained for the next ten years until his retirement in 2000.

Bob’s home was his castle. He so enjoyed being outside working around his home which he took great pride in. From the manicured lawn, to flowers bursting spring, summer and fall he loved it! When winter came or any of those rainy days he couldn’t go outside there was always something to do inside their home or down cellar where it was always fun and interesting just to putter.

He and Josephine enjoyed traveling close to home. Throughout New Hampshire, and all the other New England states, there was always someplace of interest for them to travel.

A very quiet, gentle man, Bob was very easy going. When he saw something needed to be done, Bob was the man who very quietly would step in, do it and quietly walk away. A good man who was truly enjoyed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
