OBITUARY:

Joseph F. ‘Joe’ Borselli passed away unexpectedly, Saturday morning, March 26th after being stricken at his home. The beloved husband of Judith M. “judy”(Day) Borselli, he was sixty eight years of age.

Born in Woburn, he was son of late Frank and Josephine (Danna) Borselli. One of two sons they were raised in the Horn Pond section of the city. Educated in Woburn , Joe was quite an athlete throughout high school, being one of the outstanding athletes in both basketball and football. While in high school he met the love of his life, Judy Day, to whom he has shared his life with for over the next fifty one years. They brought three sons and a daughter into the world to whom Joe was devoted too. Family was always first and foremost. Summers in Gloucester, at Long Beach was always the place to be! Family and friends, the ocean, cookouts, football games on the beach, walks and truly wonderful times were spent there. Travelling while the children were growing up and in later years, trips with Judy were always to fun and interesting places, as it was, all about being together.

Joe loved his home! He always felt that he had everything he needed right there, beginning with his family. When grandchildren began arriving Bumpa/Bumps, spent a lot of time following them to all their sporting events and educational performances. He was so very proud of them all.

Throughout all the years Joe shared in Judy’s devotion to cheerleading. He travelled near and far, national meets or local meets, cross country or to the next town, Joe was there, their number one supporter and number one fan, earning the name “Big Joe” by all the cheerleaders.

Joe worked hard all his life. He and his brother Frank joined their Dad at a very early age in the Borselli Construction family business, which Joe has owned and been actively involved right up until Friday. Joe took great pride in his business along with each and every project he took on. He also had the great pleasure of having his family share in all aspects of the very top notch Borselli Construction Co.

A man of great strength, emotionally and physically, Joe had a heart as big as he was, although he would try to keep that a secret! His love of family was very present and admired by many. Be it in the wonderful sauce he made for family dinners and holidays, season tickets to the Patriots games with Judy, swimming in the backyard with his grandchildren or having friends and family gathered in his back yard for a cook out, it all gave Joe plenty of reason to share that wonderful smile with all whom he loved.

Sadly in addition to his parents Joe was predeceased by his brother Frank Borselli.

Joe is lovingly survived by his wife Judith M. “Judy” (Day) Borselli, his children Stephen B. Borselli, Joseph R. Borselli, Brian J. Borselli and wife Kristin and Alisa A. Borselli all of Woburn. Brother in law of Diana Borselli of Burlington. Nephew of Eleanor Scalesse of Belmont and Norma Pecora of Woburn. Loving “Bumpa~Bumps” of Kassidy, Gabbriella, Cameron and Colby Borselli. Precious Uncle of Michael, Kevin and Joanne Borselli, Melissa and Brian Day. A Funeral will be held in St Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn on Thursday March 31 at 1:00 p.m. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday afternoon from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Remembrances may be made in Joe’s memory to The Courtney Lynch Benefit Fund, c/o Rockland Trust Bank, 275 Main Street, Woburn, MA 01801.

  13. Dear Judy and family:

I am so sorry for your loss. It is hard to understand the reasons why someone leaves us so early in life. My memories of “Joey” bring a smile to my face: wondering when I spoke to him if he would speak back, did he know who I was, then a big smile would reward me. I’m sitting here thinking of you now, knowing that your family is strong and that you’ll have the strength to get through this. I’m sending you all the strength and love I’ve got! And adding in a few prayers asking God to stay by you, too.
