OBITUARY:

Paul F. Delaney passed away at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, on Thursday, March 17th. The beloved husband of the late Lorraine (Easler) Delaney, he was seventy one years of age.

Born in Boston, he was the son of the late William and Margaret(Walsh) Delaney. Raised and educated in South Boston, Paul was one of thirteen children in the Delaney family and grew up on “K” Street. He was educated in South Boston and was a graduate of South Boston High School with the Class of 1963.

Paul learned a great deal from his dad about being a machinist. He worked that trade for a number of years with his father and then went to SPM Corp., for twenty years and then to Friday Engineering. Paul was a very hard worker and a very talented machinist, that earned the respect of many colleagues in the field.

One evening he went out on a blind date with friends and that is when he was introduced to Lorraine Easler. In 1966 they married and nestled right in to East Woburn, where they have remained. They brought two daughters into the world to whom he was very devoted to.

Paul was a very active Dad in the Woburn Little League have served for over twenty five years coaching his daughters teams an others, umpiring, on the board and helping out any way he was needed.

St. Joseph’s was their family parish and it was there that Paul also volunteered at Bingo where he was the “Bingo Caller,” for years.

As his three grandchildren joined their family “Papa” was the name and how he enjoyed that!

Truly a people person, Paul always took the time to exchange conversation with people he met. His neighbors Nelson, Bob and Jimmy were extremely good friends with whom he has shared his lifetime with here with in Woburn.

Often viewed as a “stern man” to those who did not know him, once you began talking with him his sensitivity and kindness was ever present.

Paul was the world to his family. “Papa” loved the time spent with his grandchildren, and always kept a very strong connection with his twelve brother and sisters over the years.

Sadly, Paul was predeceased by his parents, and beloved wife Lorraine in 2004.

Paul’s lovingly survived by his children Kim E. Delaney-Chiary and Kerry A. Delaney both of Woburn. Dear brother of Joseph Delaney, his wife Ethel of FL, Daniel “Danny” Delaney of Plymouth, Mary Deady and Margaret Hurley both of South Boston, Winnie Avitable, her husband Joseph of Hanover and the late William “Sonny”, James, Robert, Martin “Spike”, John, David and Katherine Delaney.
