A Funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Monday morning March 28th at 9:45 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn at 10. Interment in St. Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Monday morning from 9:00-9:45 a.m. prior to the Funeral.
Marie Smith Palmer-Murphy passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 17th after a lingering illness. The beloved wife of the late Edward J. Palmer and the late Lawrence P. Murphy, she was eighty seven years of age.
Born in Somerville, Marie was the daughter of the late Frank and Sarah (Ryan) Smith. Raised and educated in Somerville, she was a graduate of Somerville High School. Marie continued on with her education and graduated from Boston University, with her degree in teaching.
Marie secured herself a position in the Lexington Public Schools, as an elementary school teacher, where she remained for a number of years. Ed Palmer enter into Maries life, they married and spent the next fifty years together. They travelled all over the world covering all the continents, and many, many different countries. Marie could never learn enough about what there was to learn! After Ed had passed away she was introduced to Larry Murphy to whom she was married to for three short years, when he passed away.
Marie shared a very special relationship with the Kelley family here in Woburn. Throughout all her travels she had kept in touch with her dear family friends all throughout the years. Marie is certainly remembered for her years of devotion to her family and having shared all the wonderful travel experiences she had encountered.
Marie is lovingly survived by her dear cousins Irene Hogarty, FL, Elizabeth Schmidt of Everett, James Callahan of FL, and God son Matthew Kelley of Groveland and all the rest of the Kelley Clan.
A Funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Monday, March 28th at 9:45 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn at 10.
