OBITUARY:

Joseph P. “Joe” Flynn passed away at the Lahey Clinic, Monday January 4th. The beloved husband of Nancy (MacDonald) Flynn, he was seventy-five years of age.

Born in Medford, he was one of five children born to the late Edward A. and Sophie M (Mostika) Flynn.

Raised and educated in Woburn, Joe was a graduate of Woburn High School with the Class of 1958.

Joe a very bright and articulate man was very interested in a lot of different things. He perused a license in flying airplanes and then had his own plane and was a private pilot, transporting to where they needed to go! He had such an interest and passion in airplanes, he built his own at home . Upon completion moved it to Beverly Airport, where he flew out of for years.

Joe also built his own home in North Woburn during the sixties. He was very proud of this major accomplishment and that is where he and his wife raised their family and have remained over the years. It was also the place for friends and family to gather for cookouts, birthdays, graduations and all sorts of celebrations. As a matter of fact, in later years, Joe hand dug his own in ground pool in the back yard . It truly was such a major accomplishment! Joe was so very proud of this project he hosted his daughters wedding at their back yard venue.

Joe also had a great interest in electronics. He studied electronics for several years and then secured a position in the Burlington Public Schools, teaching electronics, while also working as a repair technician. During which time Joe developed some software, which was of great assist to the pharmaceutical industry.

Joe and Nancy were very devoted to their children and always enjoyed travelling to Cape Cod or north to Nova Scotia which were two of the most favorite places to visit.

Joe certainly lived a life that was full. If he didn’t know about something and wanted to he did and didn’t waist time doing it! He lived, loved and had a great amount of faith to see him through.

Sadly, Joe was predeceased by his parents and brother Jack Flynn.

  1. To Joes Family,
The last time I saw Joe we had a discussion about this. He asked is I would attend his wake and pay my condolences… I promised but unfortunately, I just saw the news. I have cared for Joe for many years while he was hospitalized. He would talk about his love for his adoring wife and his children. He was so excited about the backyard wedding last year! He was a strong man with deep convictions. I will miss that smile of his. May he be free from pain and suffering.
