DANIEL MANTONE – of Woburn, Wednesday, October 21st, forty five years of age. Beloved son of Joseph L. and Linda (Hutson) Mantone of Woburn. Loving brother of Erin Keating and her husband David of Woburn, Joseph Mantone and his wife Stacey of Woburn, Shannon Mantone and her fiancé Paul Strong of Wakefield and Timothy Mantone and his wife Ruth of Woburn. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family. Funeral from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Wednesday, October 28th at 9:15 followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn at 10. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. Relatives and friends are kindly invited tocall at the Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made in Daniel’s name to the Woburn Council of Social Concern, 2 Merrimac Street, Woburn, MA 01801 or www.socialconcern.org/ or Toys for Tots Woburn District, 144 School Street, Woburn, MA 01801.

OBITUARY:

Daniel Mantone, a longtime resident of Woburn, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday. October 21st. He was forty five years of age. He was the beloved son of Joseph L. and Linda (Hutson) Mantone.

Danny was born in Cambridge, one of five children of Joe and Linda Mantone. They moved to Woburn’s West Side when he was two years old. He attended Woburn Public Schools and was a graduate of Woburn High School with the class of 1988. Throughout his childhood, Danny and the rest of the Mantone family, were involved with Woburn Youth Hockey and spent many days and nights in hockey rinks, also making many trips to Canada to compete.

Danny had a true love of music, especially drums. He even the drummer in his own band for several years that played venues in and around Boston. He loved the summer weather and making trips to the beach. Danny and his friends made trips down the Moose River in Maine, camping along the way.

Danny worked most recently as a landscaper but for a number of years was a proud member of the Tunnel Workers Union Local 88. Danny was a proud “Sandhog” and had a great sense of brotherhood among his other union members. His passion for brotherhood and care for others really defined who he was. His caring and loving nature allowed him to make friends easily. Danny was always there when you needed him and never hesitated to give his all.

Danny is lovingly survived by his parents Joseph L. and Linda (Hutson)Mantone of Woburn; his siblings Erin Keating and her husband David of Woburn, Joseph Mantone and his wife Stacey of Woburn, Shannon Mantone and her fiancé Paul Strong of Wakefield and Timothy Mantone and his wife Ruth of Woburn. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family.

  3. We are so sorry for the loss of Danny. He was a great guy and fun to be around. We went on the Moose River canoe trips and he always had a great sense of humor. We were proud to have known him and called him a friend.

  4. There is so much to say. Danny and all of you have been such a big part of my life since I was a young teenager. I have been thinking about all of the great times I have had with each and every one of you throughout my life and can’t stop smiling..then weeping over the loss of a long time friend. he will be missed but I will always have the memories..The numerous times we would just hang out, listen to music and contemplate life at any one of his numerous apartments throughout the years,visits to Cape Cod with Joe and the boys, Change of Pace shows,coming out to UMass to visit me, or just hanging out listening to him play drums in your basement on Day Circle and numerous other places. I loved to watch him play.. I will miss him and his contagious smile!! Rest in Peace my Old Friend!!

  5. charlie tuna needham i lived with dan for a few years. it was some of the best times of my life dan was so generious and always smiling even when we burned the place down. i hadnt talk to dan in a few years but i know wecould have picked up right were we left off. will miss you bud tuna

  8. So sorry for your sudden loss. We were so saddened to hear the news. Danny was a great guy. He was our landscaper as well as Paul’s mother, Kitty’s, landscaper. Kitty passed away the day before Danny. She really loved him. He always made it a point to talk to her when he was working in her yard. She always called us to tell us what a great guy he was.
