OBITUARY:

Donald J. Socorelis passed away Sunday, August 16th, at the Nashoba Valley Medical Center in Ayer. The beloved son of the late Walter and Lumina (Diette) Socorelis, he was eighty-three years of age.

Born in Chelsea, Donald was raised in Westford and attended Westford Academy, where he was a graduate with the Class of 1950. Following high school, Donald enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served his country proudly during the Korean War as a corporal. When he returned home, Donald attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology for two years. He brought seven children into the world whom he was completely devoted.

Donald was a self-made man and a diligent worker. He started and owned My Glass/Woburn Glass Company in downtown Woburn and you could always find him hard at work. A true “jack-of-all-trades,” there was nothing Donald couldn’t do. He performed autobody and autoglass services in both residential and commercial needs. Donald was a friend to all and anyone who met him instantly loved him. An outgoing, generous gentleman, Donald was a man’s man who was always fair to everyone. He always gave his all to his family, friends, and work.

In addition to his parents, Donald was predeceased by his son, Walter Socorelis; and his brother, Gerald Socorelis.

He is lovingly survived by his children, Patricia Smith of VT, Pauline Socorelis of MI, Peter Socorelis and his wife Karen of Woburn, Don Robert LaDow of NH, Lisa Bergeron and her husband Willie of NH, Lori Socorelis of Westford, Amy Milillo and her husband James of NH; twenty-three grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; and his girlfriend, Ada Delaney.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to call at the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Wednesday, August 19th from 4 to 8 p.m. Services and interment are private.

  4. My Dad was the most amazing person. He always wanted to make everyone happy and everyone laugh. Once you became a part of his family or his friend their is nothing he would not do for you. He was a true good person who would ask for nothing in return and want nothing in return. Even in the end all he wanted to do was comfort others, like my mom, his companion of 16 years, even trying to buy a generator for her on the last days of his life. He always wanted to leave a legacy behind, in his children, in his businesses and the things he built, like the log cabin at the camp, where my sisters and I and our children spent the most amazing night. When we let him into our family he let us into his and gave us a whole new and bigger family. He will be missed by so many. Missy and Molly and all of us. Andrea Missed Dearly
